Agronomist Applications Scientist

Job Summary

IFF is actively recruiting for an experienced full-time agronomist to start immediately with our team driving the application of microbial products that are biostimulants and pest control agents in row crops and fruits & vegetables. Candidate will be passionate about the use of microbials and the biological methods of improving crop health and pest control. A strong background in field trial design and integrated pest management would also be favorable. Candidates with extensive experience in California or California-like growing regions are strongly preferred.

The role will be mostly a field role that involves identification of opportunities; design, tracking and administration of trials; support field demonstrations and run demo days for customers; training market partners; lead field technical service activities; follow up on product inquiries and complaints; providing customer support and generating customer interest. However, some internal work will be necessary in creating technical bulletins and some sales collateral that is relevant to the customer. Ideally, the candidate has experience with bio pesticides, crop nutrition, and biostimulants. The candidate will have a good understanding of crop, pest, soil and beneficial microbe interactions. Soil science background would be a plus. Crop experience can initially be in fruits and vegetables, and ideally experienced in row crops as well. Primary, initial regional focus will initially be the Western US and Southeastern states, but would extend to row crops in the Midwest, so travel will be required.

Some projects will consist of design and supervision of field trials, analysis of field trial data, but the candidate would be expected to participate in strategy development, and hosting discussion forums with consultants’ network of agronomists / farmers as necessary.Agronomist or equivalent qualification. Pest Control Advisor experience strongly preferred.More than 5 years hands-on experience designing and running field trials with conventional and biological fungicides on fruits and vegetables in a California or California-like environment.Detailed knowledge of current agrochemicals, biologicals and microbials on market (eg. adjuvants, fungicides, herbicides, biostimulants, biofertilizers and other tank additives).Strong knowledge of integrated pest management (IPM), agronomy statistics, pests of fruits and vegetables, pest-plant interactions, and crop production.Experience in technical sales in agronomic areasFamiliarity with regulatory policies associated with fungicide application is preferred.

Salary Ranges:

$117,600.00 - $176,400.00
