Our Pediatric Neurosurgery Program is known for:
Being the first program in the nation to have a director of congenital neurosurgery.
An experienced surgical team, performing hundreds of neurosurgeries and Neuromedical procedures annually.

Being the only pediatric neurosurgical practice in Central Florida to use the Leksell Gamma Knife® 4C treatment for pediatric patients with complex neurological disorders.
Having advanced neuroscience technologies such as a frameless stereotactic surgical navigation system, 3-Tesla MRI, image-guided radiation therapy.
Expanding indications for the surgical management of epilepsy.
General Summary:
The PA-C, under the supervision of the Physician, who acts as the collaborative practitioner, is responsible for:
Performing physical examinations of Pediatric Neurosurgery patients in the clinic and hospital setting including, but not limited to: new patient visits, pre; intra and post-operative.
Surgical 1st assist surgeons in the Operating Room.
A few of the procedures performed will involve but are not limited to: Brain and Spinal Tumors, Chiari Malformations, Craniofacial Disorders, Hydrocephalus Surgery, Neurofibromatosis, Epilepsy Surgery.
Enables continuity of care by managing patient care in pre-, intra- and post-operative settings.
Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, Ultrasound etc
Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed.
Collaborates with physician and staff as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff.
Displays a caring and professional attitude always as well as maintaining personal and professional growth.
Candidate must be able to pass a third-party background check and pre-employment drug screen.
Call rotation includes 1 weekend a month.

Knowledge and Skills Required:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, patients, parents and hospital medical staff.
Desire to become part of a multi-disciplinary pediatric neurosurgery program.
Some evening and weekend on-call/rounding will be required.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, patients, and the public.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to work variable, flexible shifts as some evening and/or weekend hours may be required.
Required Education/Experience:
Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies.
Previous neurosurgery preferably in pediatrics and or OR first assist experience preferred
Licensure, Certification, and Registration:
Current, valid Florida Physician Assistant license.
