Job Summary

The Construction Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing large-scale construction projects, ensuring they are executed in accordance with contract specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards. This role requires managing a team of technical staff, coordinating with engineering firms, and maintaining effective communication with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders. The Construction Manager ensures the successful execution of the project by supervising site conditions, initiating design changes as necessary, and ensuring that all necessary materials, testing, and progress reporting are conducted in a timely manner. This position involves regular site inspections, progress monitoring, and addressing any disputes that arise during the project. A strong background in construction management, engineering, and public/governmental project experience is required.

Roles and Responsibilities

Supervise and lead a team of technical staff on large construction projects, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards.Liaise with engineering firms, providing constructability feedback and ensuring design changes are communicated effectively.Monitor site conditions and identify any discrepancies or necessary design changes, reporting them to the project's Registered Engineer.Oversee the contractor’s methods and execution to ensure compliance with the contract and that work is carried out satisfactorily.Manage progress reporting systems, including preparation of executive reports and the maintenance of up-to-date record drawings.Supervise the completion of necessary notices, permits, and approvals, ensuring all documentation is in place for the project's progress.Ensure materials are tested and recorded, and progress photographs are taken and maintained to document project developments.Address any hazardous situations on site and ensure the implementation of the company's Safety Policy.Resolve disputes arising from contract interpretation, ensuring future contracts and specifications are updated as needed.Maintain clear communication with all project stakeholders, ensuring that all necessary information is provided to contractors promptly to prevent delays.

Basic Qualifications

A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a project or construction management lead role, with at least two (2) years of experience in public/governmental organization projects.Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.At least 10 years of overall experience in the construction or engineering field, with a typical range of 20 years of experience.Proven supervisory experience, including managing a team of technical staff and ensuring project execution to specification.Strong knowledge of construction contracts, safety regulations, and industry standards.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working on large-scale public or government construction projects.Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP) or other relevant construction management certifications.Familiarity with advanced construction technologies or project management software.
