Job Summary
The Driver/Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining fire apparatus and related equipment to ensure rapid and effective response to emergencies. This role involves safely transporting personnel and equipment to incident scenes, operating pumps and other firefighting equipment, and conducting preventive maintenance to ensure operational readiness. The Driver/Operator works in hazardous environments, requiring the use of specialized protective gear and adherence to safety protocols. Additionally, the position requires proficiency in handling incidents involving hazardous materials, airport fire response, and structural firefighting. Through a combination of technical expertise and operational efficiency, the Driver/Operator plays a vital role in protecting life, property, and the environment.

Roles and Responsibilities
Operate fire apparatus and equipment, including pumps, foam generators, boom nozzles, and ground sweep nozzles, during emergency response and firefighting operations.Safely drive vehicles to incident scenes, following predetermined routes or selecting alternate routes when necessary.Perform daily preventive maintenance on fire apparatus, such as oil changes, replacing packing in pumps, and draining and flushing tanks.Ensure that all firefighting equipment is in proper working condition and ready for immediate use.Use specialized protective gear in hazardous environments, including incidents involving poisonous gases, radioactive materials, or hazardous biological products.Assist in fire suppression and rescue operations by providing necessary support through equipment operation and readiness.Participate in regular drills and training sessions to maintain proficiency in equipment operation and emergency response protocols.Adhere to safety guidelines and standard operating procedures to minimize risks during emergency response activities.Perform documentation and reporting tasks related to vehicle maintenance, incident response, and equipment usage.Basic Qualifications
Certifications in Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations, Fire Fighter I and II, and Airport Fire Fighter.Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with necessary endorsements for operating fire apparatus.Demonstrated proficiency in operating fire pumps, foam systems, and other firefighting equipment.Proven experience in maintaining and servicing fire apparatus and related equipment.Ability to work in hazardous conditions while wearing specialized protective gear.Preferred Qualifications
Associate's degree in Fire Science, Emergency Services, or a related field.Advanced certification in Pump Operations or Aerial Apparatus Operations.Experience with airport-specific firefighting equipment and procedures.KBR Benefits
