Job Summary
The MWR Manager is responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of recreational, leisure, and social facilities for the Department of Defense (DoD). The role involves developing programs aimed at improving the health, wellness, and overall well-being of service members, their families, and civilian employees. The MWR Manager will focus on fitness programs, educational offerings, and managing the preparation and maintenance of activity areas. This position requires a strong customer service focus and excellent communication skills to ensure high-quality service delivery. The role also involves budgetary oversight and identifying opportunities for income generation within the recreational facilities.

Roles and Responsibilities
Supervise and manage the operations of DoD recreational, leisure, or social facilities to ensure smooth and effective services.
Develop, implement, and evaluate educational, wellness, and fitness programs to enhance the well-being of customers.
Oversee maintenance requirements and ensure activity areas are properly prepared for use.
Manage the operational budget, identifying areas to increase income generation and improve overall facility viability.
Ensure that all recreational and fitness activities are compliant with safety regulations and provide a safe environment for participants.
Develop marketing strategies and materials to promote MWR programs and activities to maximize participation and engagement.
Provide strong leadership to staff, ensuring quality customer service and fostering a positive environment.
Regularly assess program success and customer satisfaction, making adjustments as necessary to improve offerings.
Coordinate with other DoD entities and contractors to ensure that MWR activities are well-integrated and meet customer needs.
Address any customer concerns or complaints in a timely and professional manner to ensure satisfaction.
Basic Qualifications
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in supervising and managing DoD recreation or club management operations, or eight (8) years of comparable civilian experience.
Undergraduate degree in Health Promotion, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field.
A minimum of 6+ years of previous experience in the leisure industry, including program development and operational management.
Proven experience in budgetary management and identifying opportunities to increase income generation.
Previous management experience, including leadership, team development, and performance management.
Preferred Qualifications
CPR and First Aid certification.
Prior experience in creating and implementing wellness and fitness programs.
Experience working with DoD or military-related recreational programs.
