The IT Shared Business Services group is pleased to announce an opportunity to join the group as an AI Engineering Manager focused on engineering our artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities and solutions.
The Opportunity:
As Fisher Investments has modernized its systems, we are now positioned to build new types of solutions on these platforms, including the exciting new possibilities enabled by artificial intelligence and machine learning. This requires a blend of skills: knowledge of AI and ML technologies. The AI Engineering Manager will work with many types of stakeholders to understand opportunities, architect solutions, and then deliver and support the working application. You will oversee the delivery of both internal development teams and consulting partners with expertise in our specific platforms, working towards improving the efficiency of Fisher Investments teams as they serve our prospects and clients.
You will partner with business stakeholders, innovation team members, IT teams and other parties to align on problems and solutions using AI/ML tools, models, and techniques. You will implement and support the solution using a variety of enterprise systems such as Salesforce and Microsoft Azure. You will report to the Vice President - Shared Business Services.
The Day-to-Day:
Collaborate with users, technology leaders, and other stakeholders to understand our priorities and translate them into applicable engineering roadmaps that use artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities
Lead high-level architectural discussions with stakeholders and vendors to develop a long-term strategy for integrating AI/ML technologies across our application portfolio
Guide the design and implementation of AI/ML solutions, including automation and process optimization, in the core systems used at Fisher Investments
Develop and lead a team of AI/ML engineers, instilling a spirit of aligned direction and commitment to excellence, while promoting a learning culture and actively recruiting top talent
Ensure robust, scalable, secure, and compliant architecture of AI systems by defining practices for model evaluation, governance, and monitoring to maintain accuracy, reliability, and security across applications, including continuous model monitoring, A/B testing, backtesting, and drift detection to sustain high accuracy and relevance of deployed AI models and applications over time
Managerial responsibilities including interviewing and hiring candidates, mentoring direct reports, and disciplinary actions or terminations
Manage all phases of various projects from envisioning through deployment
Work onsite, under management, in a team-based and open office environment
Your Qualifications:
7+ years of progressive software engineering experience with a focus in artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies
4 years in a management role demonstrating proven experience leading complex, large-scale projects and making strategic technical decisions
Ability to explain complex AI/ML concepts to stakeholders at all levels
Broad technology experience throughout systems development lifecycle, DevOps, and various areas of technology architecture (cloud-native architectures, infrastructure, application architecture, data architecture, security, and integrations)
In-depth knowledge and proven track record in AI/ML technology, including deep learning, time series modeling, natural language processing, unsupervised learning, and LLM/SLM models, model fine-tuning, in-context learning, and evaluation techniques, including model monitoring, drift detection, back testing, and governance practices to maintain compliance, security, and operational excellence across AI/ML applications
Knowledgeable about responsible AI/ML, including governance and ethics, with experience implementing strategies to ensure fair and unbiased AI/ML solutions
Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, engineering, mathematics or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Master's degree desirable
Compensation:
$145,000 - $200,000 base salary per year in the state of WA - New hires should expect to start at the lower end of the range depending on experience
Eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance
