The AI Innovation Lead plays a crucial role in driving AI innovation across News Corp Australia, focusing both on enhancing audience experiences and improving internal efficiencies. Reporting to the General Manager, AI & Personalisation, this role is responsible for identifying emerging AI trends, leading proof-of-concept projects, and fostering a culture of innovation. This includes exploring and developing cutting-edge AI solutions that transform how our audiences engage with our content and how we operate as an organisation.
Innovation Project Leadership: Spearheading the ideation, development, and execution of AI proof-of-concept projects. These projects will span two key areas:
Audience-Facing Innovation: Develop AI-powered features and experiences to personalise content delivery, enhance user engagement, and create innovative storytelling formats. Examples include AI-driven content recommendations, personalised news feeds, and interactive content experiences.
Internal Efficiency Innovation: Explore and develop AI solutions to optimise internal processes, automate tasks, and drive efficiencies across various departments. Examples include automating content tagging, streamlining workflows, and optimising content distribution.
AI Trend Scouting & Analysis: Continuously monitor and analyse advancements in AI, machine learning, and related fields, identifying emerging trends with the potential to revolutionise both audience-facing products and internal operations. This involves staying abreast of developments in areas like natural language processing, computer vision, and recommendation systems.
Research & Development: Conduct research and experimentation to evaluate the feasibility and potential impact of new AI technologies, both for audience-facing products and internal applications. Develop prototypes and MVPs to demonstrate the value of innovative solutions.
Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing: Foster a culture of AI innovation within News Corp Australia, bridging the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders. Share knowledge and insights with colleagues through presentations, workshops, and training, emphasising the potential of AI to transform both audience experiences and internal operations.
Strategic Recommendations: Provide strategic recommendations to the General Manager, AI & Personalisation, on adopting and implementing promising AI technologies. Develop compelling business cases and roadmaps for AI innovation initiatives, outlining the potential benefits for both audiences and the organisation.
Who are you?Deep understanding of AI and machine learning principles, algorithms, and techniques, with a focus on media and related industries.
Proven experience leading innovation projects and delivering successful AI solutions in both customer-facing and internal contexts.
Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate and interpret complex data related to audience behaviour and operational efficiency.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, able to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams, fostering innovation and collaboration.
Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
7+ years of experience in AI research, development, or innovation, with a track record of delivering business value and measurable impact.
