The Digital Modernization Sector in Windsor Mill, MD in support of the End User Centric IT Support (ECIS) Contract for Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is looking to improve and advance the organization. Our program is focused on the delivery of end-user centric IT technology solution to our customer CMS where we are challenged to provide ongoing innovative and seamless experience while using CMS systems, applications and solutions, provide proactive secure development of IT integrations, concepts, and designs across the CMS enterprise and integrate end-user computing devices, conference room technology, infrastructure hardware and software, and user applications into a streamlined and seamless experience across the CMS user base. We foster a positive end-user experience while ensuring protection of the data.    The successful candidate will work within an Agile ITIL environment with a large focus on DevOps. The candidate will be a member of the ECIS Solutions Architect Team providing Subject Matter Expert support for the AI (Artificial Intelligence) Environment. You’ll play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and delivering cutting-edge software solutions that drive innovation and enhance the user experience across a wide range of AI products and services.  Independently develop solutions, approaches, or make recommendations to resolve a wide range of complex or difficult problems for both internal/external customers including vendors. These processes and production requirements often require a flexible work schedule.  The Candidate may need to give presentations from time to time and often this entails producing well written technical documents specific to the customer's environment and objectives. The candidate will participate in scrum sprint activities as needed for AI related solutions.  Candidate must be able to speak clearly and communicate effectively (both written and verbally) with a customer's technical staff as well as Senior Management.  Additional responsibilities will include troubleshooting and working with other technical functional groups i.e., Service Desk, Datacomm, EUA, Security and Engineering Team for all supported technical issues.

Primary Responsibilities

The Leidos ECIS2 program is seeking an AI Engineer to provide immediate staffing for the Azure Open AI and Co-Pilot proof of concept.  This project supports the Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS).

The FIGJAM tool is intended to assist an FOIA analyst with specific steps in their workflow to review documents and respond to a records request.  FOIA has standard exemptions for information not suitable for public release, including Personal Identifiable Information and privileged information.

The Proof of Concept is focused on recommending redaction steps (based on the standard FOIA exemptions) for an incoming set of documents that have been identified as responsive to an external FOIA request.  Documents will be in PDF form and AWS tools will be used to parse and analyze the documents.

The candidate will work as part of the project team to implement the development pipeline (consistent with DevOps/SecDevOps practices) and the supporting infrastructure for the proof-of-concept UI/UX.

Basic Qualifications

Under the direction of the Architect Lead, Product Manager, Program Manager and Deputy Program Manager, your responsibilities are, to include, but not limited to:

Additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.Strong experience with Data AnalyticsEnsuring solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with business objectives.Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and project teams.Architect scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.Work closely with other teams to ensure seamless integration and alignment.Champion a collaborative culture, sharing knowledge and fostering innovation.Assist in the development of concise and accurate engineering documentation on current and proposed cloud environments including Visio Diagrams, As-Built documents, recommendations for solutions, run books, knowledge guides, and other operations guides.Work with little or no supervision, provide guidance to the team when necessary, and be able to adapt to changing requirements.Participate as required with Agile Scrum sprints and other Agile Ceremonies.Good communication skills including verbal, presentation, and technical writing to communicate with the contractor team and involved Government personnel at all levels.Stay up-to-date with the latest AI solutions and best practices.Experience working with and training AI tools to be able to take actions on (reformat/mark up) new incoming data based on a training corpusStrong experience with PythonData Model building and tuningUnderstanding of the requests being submitted and how they fit within the modelAccess to evaluate models within AWS and the ability to invoke new modelsUnderstanding of LLM (Large Language Models)Strong proficiency in containerization technologies, including AWS Cloud Containerization services and Docker.Experience with CI/CD tools and practices.Expertise in AWS AI services and machine learning model deployment.Develop and deploy AI/ML models using AWS AI/ML services (e.g., Sage Maker, Recognition, Comprehend) and collaborate with data scientists and engineers to implement machine learning solutions.Design, implement, and manage containerized applications using AWS Cloud Containerization services (e.g., ECS, EKS) and Docker, developing CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and scaling.Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and deliver robust solutions, documenting system configurations, procedures, and best practices.

Experience working in an Agile team that typically uses techniques both from Scrum and from KanbanExperience with DevOps/SecDevOps methodologiesExperience with Data Analytics and AI/MLAzure OpenAI Services: Proficient in leveraging Azure OpenAI services to develop and deploy advanced AI models for natural language processing, computer vision, and other AI applications.Microsoft Copilot Integration: Experienced in integrating and customizing Microsoft Copilot to enhance productivity and automate complex workflows within the Microsoft ecosystem.AI Builder Expertise: Skilled in using AI Builder within Power Platform to create and deploy AI models that automate business processes and improve decision-making.Custom AI Solutions: Ability to design, develop, and deploy custom AI solutions using Azure AI, including Azure Machine Learning and Cognitive ServicesData Analysis and Modeling: Strong background in data analysis, statistical modeling, and machine learning techniques using Python, R, and SQL.REST API Integration: Proficient in integrating REST APIs with Microsoft AI tools to enhance data processing and model deployment.

Data Visualization: Experienced in creating insightful data visualizations and dashboards using Power BI to support data-driven decision-making.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.

Pay Range:Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00
