Position Overview:
The selected AI Software Engineer will define, develop, and deliver novel mathematical and statistical modeling and algorithm products to tackle the challenges of prediction, optimization, and classification and will be a core contributor toward advancing the artificial intelligence and machine learning products for critical national security programs and missions. The AI Software Engineer will also apply machine learning algorithms to large sets of structured and unstructured data to solve a broad range of problems that include applications in pattern recognition, target detection and tracking, machine learning and decision systems, and false alarm mitigation

Roles and Responsibilities include:
Prototype advanced artificial intelligence techniques to stretch the capability of autonomous systems research and development programsDesign, develop, document, test and debug software and system applications that contain logical and mathematical solutionsCollaborate with cross-functional team to deploy machine learning algorithms to prototype testing and productionEnsure industry best practices and standards are applied and maintainedMay use system-of-systems and multi-agent approaches to architect and design AI software systemsWill work closely with AI Systems Engineers to understand program intent, system capabilities, and output requirementsMay implement software-systems, applications, and data architectures that directly leverage AI techniques to support achieving better reliability, precision, accuracy, and speed to meet performance requirementsBasic Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related experienceAbility and willingness to travel up-to 20% to support business needsApplicants must have an active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearanceAbility to meet customer-specific security screening requirements within a timeframe set forth by managementThis position is not remote and will require the selected applicant to work onsite full-timeExperience working in C/C++, Python, MATLAB, and other object-oriented languagesEffective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholdersExperience and familiarity with AI technologies and methodologies, including machine learning, deep learning, and convolutional neural netsExperience with Git-based software configuration management toolsExperience with PyTorch, Tensorflow, and/or other equivalent machine learning librariesPreferred Requirements:
Current active in-scope DoD Top Secret security clearanceBackground in Software Development and/or Software Engineering with an Agile/DevSecOps mindsetExperience in algorithmic application development and optimizationExperience with developing for SWaP-constrained environmentsExperience with open software/system architecture solutionsExperience with Linux operating systemsExperience with CUDA and GPUsExperience with high performance numerical/scientific computing, parallel computingExperience with containerization i.e. Podman, Docker, Kubernetes etc..Salary Range: $98,300.00 - $147,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
