Axient is seeking a test engineer/technician to support our government customer in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  The team supports the Air Force Research Laboratory’s (AFRL) Small Satellite Portfolio (SSP) and the Rapid Architecture Prototyping and Integration Development (RAPID) laboratory.  SSP is developing, testing, and transitioning small satellite technologies to support the Hybrid Architecture vision for the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force. RAPID is conducting experimentation to accelerate the Space Force’s pivot to resilient architectures of the future.   This position supports development for both programs under one laboratory environment with cutting edge test and demonstration for new capabilities for our U.S. Space Force.

What you will do...

Job Description and Responsibilities

General

The AI&T Tech will provide direct technical expertise support to the SSP and RAPID teams. Work closely with engineers and other technicians in an integrated environment of test and integration for electrical components, subsystems, products, and projects Set up oscilloscopes, multimeters, and amp meters. Support test campaigns, including occasional hours outside of a normal work dayEstablish understanding and implementation of various components based on their specs, calculations, and operations as defined in their datasheet Use and abide by lab safety practices and protocol such as Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) awareness, FOD, and HazmatIdentify program problems and assist in establishing solutions and improved processes Aid in the continued build-out, advancement, and growth of facilities Gather, compile, and maintain technical data (e.g., test results, engineering design changes, engineering drawings, engineering documentation, etc.)

 

Electrical Tasks

Read and interpret schematics and wire diagramsFabricate cable harnesses to IPC J-STD-001/WHMA-620 standardsUse of oscilloscopes, multimeters, and amp meters to measure current and capture signals on live circuits, etc.Soldering and de-soldering SMT components and TerminalsUtilize a basic understanding of circuits and electrical troubleshooting with an interest in growing your knowledge base

Mechanical Tasks

Crane operations for sensitive/critical liftsAbility to operate a forkliftAbility to operate scissor lifts

Lab Technician Tasks

Execute test procedures in support of integration, build, and testing of components, subsystems, projects, and programsUse of various hand tools such as lathes, cutting and crimp machines, and test equipmentAbility to operate and maintain environmental testing equipment (e.g., vibration tables, thermal vacuum chambers, bell jars, etc.)Fabricate complex payload harnesses using db, high density, omnetics, micro and nano d, circular and various types of connectors. Qualifications

Education & Experience

5+ years of experience in electrical and/or mechanical test environments (aerospace AI&T experience is a plus) High School Diploma and/or Associates of Science degree in any engineering discipline

Requirements

Proof of U.S. Citizenship Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance and handle and safeguard sensitive and classified information in accordance with regulations. This is a full-time position, and on-site work is a requirement. Occasional travel within the United States may be required.
