(AIG Sonpo) Section Manager, Chief Underwriter, Corporate Property Section
Job Purpose + Responsible for driving underwriting excellence and profitable growth for Commercial Property with clients & producers (mainly in the Corporate Segment) that seek standard market product solutions at a high level of service. The areas of responsibilities include, but are not limited to, strategy development and implementation, underwriting policy development and implementation, people management, implementing operational efficiency initiatives, budget preparation and reporting, new product development and distribution channel development across segments while managing team of underwriters. + Responsible for working across Commercial Property including Corporate and SME to align appetite and strategies across industry verticals to create a sustainable and profitable platform to address the horizontal needs of the customer. Job Responsibilities + Develops and implements strategies to maximize penetration, growth and profitability of Commercial Property (mainly in the Corporate Segment) + Collaborates with Distribution, Marketing, Multinational, Claims & Operations, Technology, Training and Sales Management teams in the company in supporting and/or promoting Commercial Property insurance strategies. + Develops and executes strategic plans for entry into new markets or the development and introduction of new products and services. + Works closely with Claims and Actuary to analyze and predict claim trends and provide input on policy coverage and interpretation. + Has product, channel, area and client segment underwriting views to ensure profitable growth for Property products via enhanced portfolio underwriting tools and data analytics. + Develops underwriting policies, procedures and guidelines, and delegates underwriting authorities. + Develops and analyzes competitive intelligence for product, price and underwriting. + Represents Property Product interests with regulators, auditors and other internal or external entities that may have an interest in the underwriting guidelines, practices, authorities or risk appetite. + Achieves budget for Commercial Property for Corporate Segment and reports to senior management in cooperation with Head of Commercial Property, Japan + Continuous responsibility to improve operational efficiency within the Property tower by working with teams of Operations, Systems and Claims and maximizing existing resources and shared services. + Plans, manages and mentors staff, develops bench strength’s underwriting skills and/or product knowledge, and ensures adherence to underwriting guidelines and any other internal standards Key Relationships  Internal Interactions (Within the Organization) + Commercial Property in Corporate/SME, International and H.O. Commercial Property Underwriting, and Regional personnel + Corporate segment leaders in Marketing/Customer Experience and Distribution divisions + Regional, International and H.O. Commercial Property Claims, Actuary, Operations, + Multinational, Data & Analytics Department, Risk Engineering, Reinsurance, Enterprise Risk Management  External Interactions (Outside the Organization) + FSA and other regulatory bodies + Associations related to Property products. + Independent Agents, In-house Agents, Brokers, Case Agents + Clients Required Skills and Experiences  Educational Qualification + Bachelor’s degree or equivalent   Specific Qualifications + Business level English + Strong communication and presentation skills + The ability to drive change in a collaborative and sustainable way. + A strong self‐starter with a desire to take ownership. + 8+ years working experience in insurance, broking or risk management. + 4+ years working experience in large commercial property underwriting. + Analytical and quantitative skills + Knowledge of market segmentation, portfolio management, acquisition and distribution + High levels of emotional intelligence and collaboration, preferable experience in a matrix organization + •Change management and team leadership experience   Total Experience + •5 + years of management experience + •8 + years of experience in product or relevant functions + •8 + years working experience in insurance or relevant industry Reimagining insurance to make a bigger difference to the world American International Group, Inc.
