As a member of the team, you will be inspired by a diversity of challenging problems, collaborate with world-class machine learning engineers and researchers to impact the future of Apple products, and publish some of your results in high-quality scientific venues. **Description** Lead and collaborate on research into new state-of-the-art methods for adapting large language models to align with individual preferences. Machine Learning Research (MLR) at Apple is looking for a passionate researcher/scientist to develop the next generation of model adaptation strategies to enable efficient and explainable model personalization. You will join a research team dedicated to advancing state-of-the-art in fair, efficient, and explainable model personalization. You will lead academic, curiosity-driven research that is impactful both to the research community via publication at top ML venues, and to Apple by working with product teams to transfer technology that enables personalized experiences for billions of users. We seek a talented researcher who has a deep passion for ML to lead their own research and to collaborate with teams of researchers, engineers, and designe **Minimum Qualifications** + Expertise with machine learning technologies for model adaptation (such as RLHF, RLAIF, DPO) + Hands-on experience working with deep learning toolkits (ideally PyTorch) + Experience with engineering practices required for working with large models and large datasets + Ability to formulate a research problem and design experiments to appropriately answer research questions + Excellent track record publishing at top ML conferences/journals + Excellent spoken and written communication skills + MSc in Computer Science, or related technical field **Key Qualifications** **Preferred Qualifications** + Ability to formulate a research problem, design experiments, implement and communicate solutions. + Ability to work in a diverse collaborative environment. + PhD, or equivalent practical experience, in Computer Science, or related technical field. **Education & Experience** **Additional Requirements** **Pay & Benefits** + At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
