AIR CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT MECHANIC
Summary You will serve as an AIR CONDITIONING EQIUPMENT MECHANIC in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC NORTHWEST. Responsibilities You will diagnose, locate and repair malfunctions to the main operating mechanical components of large, complex heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems (HVAC). You will disassemble and repair a variety of components including compressors, evaporators, condenser, cooling coils, air handlers, bearings, water control valves, air dampers, etc. You will lubricate moving parts and replace air filters, v belts, electrical motors, pulleys, sheaves, bearings, fan shafts, etc. You will perform maintenance, calibration, modification, installation, repair and replacement of analog and direct digital controls (DDC) systems and equipment. You will utilize various trade tools, test equipment, and instruments to include: voltage, amperage, ohm meters, electronic refrigerant leak detectors, micron vacuum analyzers and pumps, electronic temperature gauges, and capacitor analyzers. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION 1) Installing, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, a variety of systems components such as compressors, which include gear, reciprocating, centrifugal, or rotary pump and a variety of refrigerant controls such as those with low and high pressure side floats, automatic thermostatic expansion valves, capillary or choke types, and those base on volume or quantity changes; 2) Examining, diagnosing malfunctions and making repairs to systems that include analog and direct digital control (DDC) systems used in complex heating ventilation; air conditioning, and refrigeration systems; and 3) Follows all guidelines and procedures pertaining to the use and handling of refrigerants in accordance with all local, state and federal regulations.
