Air Pollution Specialist AIR POLLUTION SPECIALIST $5,746.00 - $11,121.00 per Month Final Filing Date: 9/25/2024 Job Description and Duties The Energy Commission seeks an Air Pollution Specialist position in the Hydrogen Refueling Infrastructure Unit within the Fuels and Transportation Division. The incumbent will manage funding agreements and contracts, assist grant funding solicitations and lead the writing of the annual Assembly Bill 126 report. The incumbent may serve as a team lead in the development and deployment of alternative fuel vehicles and fueling infrastructure in California by performing complex technical and analytical tasks. The incumbent will work independently and participate in a team and use scientific principles to evaluate vehicle and infrastructure issues and assist private and public partners to introduce improved vehicles, engines, fueling stations, and other related infrastructure through joint funding of projects, technical assistance, and education and outreach activities. The primary responsibilities of this position are to identify, assess and prioritize innovative, cost-effective strategies that reduce toxic air pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions to provide incentives for cost-effective approaches that achieve the goals of the Clean Transportation Program (CTP). The incumbent will establish working relationships with other government agencies and industry stakeholders to ensure that the Energy Commission and the CTP have access to current technology information, in order to recommend policy options to maintain and increase the development of incentive programs to meet the policies and regulations associated with alternative and renewable fuels and vehicle technologies. Under close (Range A) or general (Range B or C) supervision of a Program and Project Supervisor, PUC, the Air Pollution Specialist will perform work of average difficulty in a wide variety of technical and analytical tasks associated with CTP agreement management activities. The agreements relate to alternative and renewable fuels with an emphasis in zero-emission vehicle infrastructure. The incumbent will manage funding agreements and contracts and assist with solicitations. The primary set of tasks will be to ensure that grant recipients are meeting deliverables, staying on time and within scope, and providing appropriate invoices. The incumbent may assist in analytical studies, research, planning, and data assessment. The incumbent will gather, tabulate, and analyze data; assist with preparing and writing reports; assist with reviewing and analyzing technical reports, papers, and correspondence; assist with public presentations; manage agreements and contracts; assist with solicitations; manage the tasks in the Scope of Work; and prepare correspondence.The incumbent will be the lead author for the Assembly Bill 126 report. This annual report reviews progress toward establishing a hydrogen fueling network that provides the coverage and capacity to fuel vehicles requiring hydrogen fuel that are being placed into operation in the state.
