AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL SPECIALIST (TERMINAL)
Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Responsibilities You will acquire and maintain all Control Tower and RATCF ratings in accordance with current manuals and directives. You will coordinate the control of aircraft operating within the MCAF Quantico Class D Surface Area and Class E airspace, to include aircraft and vehicular traffic operating on runways, taxiways, other designated areas of the airfield. You will serve as an On-The-Job Training Instructor for all positions within the Air Traffic Control Facility (ATCF). You will assign personnel to operating positions according to individual qualifications and training requirements and assign trainees to qualified controllers for supervision. You will brief the watch team on weather conditions, traffic equipment status, field conditions, and special evolutions. You will serve as the Facility Watch Officer (FWO) and be responsible for the effective supervision of the crew on duty and for handling any operational difficulties related to ATC that may arise during the shift. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing technical expertise in Air Traffic Control operations to include; Tower Local Control, Tower Ground Control, Radar Approach Control and Ground Controlled Approach services to aircraft; coordinate control of instrument traffic; coordinate and direct control of aircraft; formulate and issue ground movement of aircraft and vehicles, and operate Radar Flight Data Controller. Education Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. This is a bargaining unit position. Several vacancies may be filled.
