Air Vehicle Systems Engineer

We are searching for an Air Vehicle Systems Engineer to support the Persistent Maritime Unmanned Aircraft Systems Program Office (PMA-262) in Patuxent River, Maryland. This is a hybrid position. 

The MQ-4C Triton Air Vehicle Systems Engineering (AVSE) team is a Level 2 IPT within the PMA 262 MQ-4C Triton organizational structure.  The team is responsible for providing professional systems engineering and design management to optimize aircraft vehicle systems; and for ensuring effective and efficient interface management among the included subsystems. The AVSE team provides project engineers who are responsible for the execution of the systems engineering/design management functions for the various aircraft system development/upgrade projects.

The purpose of this position is to provide an Air Vehicle Systems Engineer for the MQ-4C Triton Unmanned Aerial Vehicle System.  The Air Vehicle Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the Air Vehicle Engineering Lead in the technical management of various air vehicle systems development, production, and sustainment during service use. Responsibilities include support in planning and development of all Air Vehicle technical requirements, development and implementation of program plans, and the coordination of work efforts by field activities and contractors.  In performing these functions, the AVSE integrates the work of all Air Vehicle subject‑matter specialists to ensure a complete system solution.

Functional Description: Provide technical support in the development and testing of Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) sensors. Review and generate technical documentation. Research, develop and propose technical solutions for problems and deficiencies within the SIGINT system. 

Duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

Provide timely, technically sound engineering support to the Air Vehicle Engineering Team Lead.  Provide timely and technically sound support to the Program Class Desk, as appropriate. Support the AV engineering lead in ensuring appropriate technical representation are in place from the Air System Group (ASG) for various projects. Provide AV engineering lead timely, sound inputs and guidance to the overall program master schedule. Support the AV engineering lead in management and coordination of appropriate engineering development, requirement adherence and technical issue resolution for the AV engineering team. Support development and preparation of program acquisition and technical documents and briefings. Support program Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) and Air Vehicle design reviews. Support planning and development of RFP’s, to include assisting the AV engineering lead in the development of the SOW, CDRL, and other applicable acquisition products. Support the AV engineering lead in identification, analysis, and mitigation of program and/or systems safety risks in accordance with applicable program risk and system safety processes. Support the AV engineering lead in the development and coordination of airworthiness requirements and identification of data products needed to support interim flight clearances.

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree with three to ten years of experience. Allowable substitutions for the bachelor’s degree include an Associate’s Degree and two years of additional work experience or four years of additional work experience with no conferred degree.

Desired Experience:

Prior experience supporting NAVAIR Programs. Familiar with Systems Engineering Processes and Concepts, and the ability support communication across a team of diverse stakeholders (both technical and non-technical).

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
