**Job Title: Aircraft Assembly - Layup Operator** **Job Description** Build composite parts using appropriate hand layup techniques. Utilize laser systems for accurate layup of plies on tools during the layup process. Ensure build-up is free from wrinkles, air pockets, and voids by fitting and smoothing successive layers of materials as necessary. Perform vacuum bagging for room temperature, oven, and autoclave processes. Conduct in-process inspections as instructed and read precision measuring tools and instruments. Record time worked accurately through Epicor, inspect for quality prior to bagging, and handle vacuum bag parts and leak test bags. Use chemicals, adhesives, and solvents as required, and clean and prep bond tools as needed. Unbag and demold parts as necessary and maintain a clean and safe work area. **Responsibilities** + Build composite parts using hand layup techniques. + Utilize laser systems for accurate layup of plies. + Fit and smooth successive layers of materials to avoid wrinkles, air pockets, and voids. + Perform vacuum bagging for different temperature processes. + Conduct in-process inspections as instructed and use precision measuring tools. + Accurately record time worked through Epicor. + Inspect parts visually for quality prior to bagging. + Handle vacuum bag parts and conduct leak tests. + Use chemicals, adhesives, and solvents as required. + Clean and prep bond tools. + Unbag and demold parts as needed. + Follow safety and security procedures and report potentially unsafe conditions. + Adapt to changes in the work environment and manage competing demands. + Read and understand blueprints and drawings. + Maintain a clean work area and follow clean-as-you-go practices. **Essential Skills** + Experience with assembly, production, and layup techniques. + Proficiency in hand layup of advanced composite materials. + Ability to perform vacuum bagging and precision trimming. + Strong visual inspection skills. + Ability to read and understand blueprints and drawings. + Experience with composite materials and tooling fabrication. + Familiarity with using precision measuring tools and instruments. **Additional Skills And Qualifications** + Ability to stand, walk, and sit frequently. + Use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms frequently. + Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally. + Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently, up to 25 pounds occasionally, and up to 50 pounds seldomly. + Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. + U.S. citizenship required for ITAR compliance. **Why Work Here?** We offer an environment that fosters creative thinking and encourages exploring solutions outside the norm. The dress code is business casual. The position offers 1st and 2nd shift options from Monday to Friday. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of LADSON, South Carolina. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
