As an Aircraft Electrician 3, you will work on prototype experimental aircraft in a fast-paced research and development environment. Aircraft Electricians will work with shop and engineering personnel to help fabricate, assemble, support flight tests as well as develop maintenance manuals and inspection plans in an ever-changing environment. Hardware and software will be developed and modified through flight test operations.

Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Fabricate, assemble, install, and test aircraft systems parts (electrical harnesses, connectors, avionics, circuit boards, relay panels, switch panels), sub-assemblies, and assemblies with little or no supervisionOperate ground testing and support equipmentRead and follow MOT’s, drawings and ER’sUse AC 43-13, AS50881, technical manuals, blueprints or sketches for acceptable systems installation methods, techniques and practices Demonstrate adequate troubleshooting techniques to isolate malfunctions in aircraft systemsIsolate and diagnose the cause of malfunctions, work with engineering and/or crew chief to make necessary adjustments or repairsPerform composite fabrication and assembly tasks (wet layup/pre-preg, parts manufacturing, assembly, major and minor repairs), as well as metal part fabrication as neededWork with assigned crew chief or engineer on systems fabrication, testing and installation

Required Qualifications:

3 to 5 years’ experience working on aircraft electrical systemsMust have an advanced understanding of the functionality and theory of the system or systems that are being developedAbility to troubleshoot and fix problems quicklyAbility to work with multiple types of aircraft power systemsProficient in the use of crimp tools, soldering, multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and many other tools and test equipmentMust have general knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements and limitations (FAR’s)Strong mechanical background including experience with aircraft systems Proficiency in schematic/blueprint reading and basic math functions Proficiency in the use of measuring tools such as scales, calipers, and micrometers Experience in the use of fabrication equipment (grinders, jig saws, skill saws, drills, band saws, disc grinders, table saws, drill presses, planers, tube benders and cable swaggers) Experience with reciprocating and turbine aircraft Good communication skills, to include reading and following verbal and written instructions Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Ability to adapt to configuration changes common in research and development Must be flexible and be able to adjust to the changing needs of the companyWillingness and ability to work in a fast-paced research and development environment and a team atmosphere Ability to plan work sequence of operationAbility to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
