Summary This job opportunity is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, position description D1525000, within the 177th AMXS of the New Jersey Air National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position. Its purpose is to act as the crew chief with responsibility for directing the total maintenance effort on individually assigned aircraft. Responsibilities As an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WG-8852-12, you will: Direct, monitor or perform overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more aircraft Coordinate and oversee the work of journey level workers in other trades working simultaneously on the assigned aircraft Expedite aircraft operations to include concurrent servicing, hot pit refueling and/or combat turns or integrated combat turns Perform preflight, post flight, thru flight, periodic, isochronal, phase, hourly and special inspections, as well as servicing, defueling, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance Serves as the technical authority to advise on, inspect and approve all airframe, mechanical, electrical/environmental, avionics, engine and pneudraulic repairs on assigned aircraft Direct and perform the ground movement of aircraft Launch, recover, park and service aircraft Perform end of runway inspection Install, remove, inspect and adjust aerial delivery systems to mission requirements Perform or oversee maintenance such as troubleshooting, removing, repairing, replacing, rigging, aligning, cleaning, painting and corrosion control Requirements Conditions of Employment Area of Consideration: CAT 3: All New Jersey Air National Guard members Additional Employment Requirements: -Participation in direct deposit is mandatory -May be required to successfully complete a probationary period -Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation -Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Military Grade: Min: A1C/E-3 and Max: TSgt/E-6 Applicant(s) (Enlisted) who are over grade must clearly state, in their resumes, their intentions to willingly take a reduction in grade Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Compatible Military Assignments Appointments may require the selected candidate to be assigned to a *military unit* compatible with the full-time Military Technician (Dual Status) position. *Military Unit* -- The unit by which the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee; or a unit that the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee to support. (Guidance established by NJ HRO-J1) Qualifications General Experience: Experience or training removing and replacing aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and making adjustments and settings according to established specifications as well as experience in the use of hand tools and test equipment. Specialized Experience: Must have 18 months of experience or training in the following: Installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification Coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow Instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container Education There are no education requirements for this vacancy announcement Additional Information THIS IS AN INDEFINITE POSITION: This position lasts for an unknown or unstated length of time and is not Permanent, but may become Permanent.
