Aircraft Mechanic I
Aircraft Mechanic I - EHS Representative Plan, organize, coordinate, and maintain established environmental, health, and safety programs for the contract at CFT - North Island HSC-3. These duties include promoting a safe and healthy work environment; assuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and submitting all required reports in a timely manner; designing, installing, and maintaining the essential written programs and documentation; developing, maintaining, and monitoring results-oriented EHS initiatives that facilitate a reduction in our injury rates; articulating the importance of safety and health and creating and presenting effective EHS training programs to educate our workforce; and serving as an on-site consultant to management for all applicable EHS issues. **Essential Responsibilities:** + Team member of the site Safety Team which is comprised of other Mechanic I - Safety Representatives and reports to the Mechanic II - EHS Lead. + Responsible for all administrative tasks delegated by the Mechanic II - EHS Lead. Will ensure all safety policies are enforced and all areas of the PWS. + Housekeeping of all areas of work including shop; participate in FOD program. + Comply with all safety requirements. + Monitors the workplace environment by analyzing work processes, materials, equipment and the work habits of employees and ensures appropriate corrective action is taken where hazards exist. + Conducts and oversees EHS training programs applicable to their shift for employees in areas such as employee-right-to-know, hazardous material handling, emergency response, industrial hygiene, and life safety. + Plans and schedules work to meet deadlines established by others to ensure the completion of several related tasks. Uses judgment in data analysis to develop and design solutions to difficult health and safety problems. + Performs traditional EHS duties such as job safety analyses, health and safety training, workplace incident investigations, workplace safety inspections, field operation supervision and internal audits. + May represent the Company at the Customer's monthly safety meetings and publishes the notes. + Serves as a resource to management on matters relating to occupational health and safety compliance, fire protection and loss prevention. + Conduct reviews for facility compliance, PPE purchases, new equipment development and modification, and equipment/machinery purchases as required. + May assist the Site Management as a safety liaison with base personnel, OSHA, fire departments and local, state and federal regulatory agencies. + Works under specific direction from the Site Management team and Mechanic II - EHS Lead and represents the Safety Team in applying general approach and specific solutions to difficult problems. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting stated objectives. + Assists in coordinating the scheduling for employee Workcare requirements to include annual audiogram, ground physicals, respirator physicals, and etc. Update monthly quality tracker in conjunction with the Quality Assurance Department to ensure employees are current. + Assists in conducting ergonomic risk assessments and making appropriate corrective action recommendations. + Assist in scheduling and may attend the quarterly safety council meetings with Site Management Team, Shop Leads, and Union Representatives. + Lead EHS at All Levels: become STS (Safety Trained Supervisor) certified to include maintaining STS certification as applicable. + Empower Employees: Monitoring employees for safe work practices and submit Monthly Safety Recognition's to Site Management for review. Encourage employees in submitting formal Safety Observations and upload to Intelex. Coordinate with Site Management on corrective actions. + Manage Operational Risk: Conduct and submit timely SSA's (System Safety Audit) and Project Bowtie Risk Assessments for compliance with Company KPI goals. + Advanced Organizational Learning: Complete START training and assist in completing monthly CSI (Continuous Safety Improvement) projects. + Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested. **Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:** + High school diploma or equivalent. + Minimum of five (5) years actual and recent O level H-60S/R/F/H Aircraft Maintenance experience or equivalent rotary aircraft experience. Two (2) years must be performed at a management/leadership level is required. + Ability to read and write and interpret technical data and special operating instructions is required. An in-depth knowledge of the applicable aircraft is required. A thorough working knowledge of applicable technical publication is required. + Good verbal and written skills and leadership ability are required. + Prior experience with U.S. Naval repair maintenance operations on military aircraft highly preferred. + Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory. + Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks. + Must be able to work all shifts. **Additional Requirements:** + Must have a valid Driver’s License. + Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English. + Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location. + Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) with a Tier 3 adjudication. + Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen. **Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:** While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; sit, use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear. The employee must have the ability to perform aircraft maintenance duties and move freely about the interior & exterior of the aircraft as well as meet aircraft specific specifications for weight limits. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and requires hearing protection. Additionally, the job requires constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must be able to work under deadlines. **Other Responsibilities:** Safety - Amentum enforces a safety culture whereby all employees have the responsibility for continuously developing and maintaining a safe work environment.
