Aircraft Mechanic I T34 - Miramar, CA
The **T-34 Aircraft Mechanic-1** performs the maintenance, overhaul, repair, inspection, and aircraft servicing functions on assigned T-34 aircraft within an aircraft maintenance and operations environment in accordance with applicable instructions. **PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES** + Perform shop and flight line maintenance tasks ensuring aircraft structural integrity. + Utilize hand tools, special tools, fixtures, and adhesives applicable to return aircraft to operational condition. + Inspect, evaluate, and repair aircraft flight surfaces, wiring, structure, fuel tanks, canopies as well as wheel and tire assemblies. + Operate all associated ground support equipment. + Perform aircraft and equipment corrosion inspections. + Remove, treat for corrosion, and apply protective coatings on aircraft and subcomponents. + Use maintenance drawings and blueprints to accomplish repairs on assigned equipment. + Coordinate maintenance efforts with assigned Site Leads or Maintenance Supervisors + Document discrepancies using applicable forms and reference materials. + Process readiness documents and verify aircraft utilization reports. + Assist in the preparation of the Monthly Maintenance Plan. + May be required to maintain the work-center technical publication annex library. + Present a courteous and professional demeanor when dealing with customers and coworkers. + Ensure compliance with applicable housekeeping, tool control, and FOD prevention programs. + Comply with all established general and industrial safety rules and regulations as applicable to the contract, facility, and job assignment. + Performs other duties as required. Minimum **EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION** + Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. + Completion of high school, or the equivalent, is required. + Must have an FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate. + Possess a valid driver’s license. + Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance and a Government flight line driver’s license. + Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in aircraft maintenance. + Completion of specialized courses, such as avionics subsystems or structural repair, is highly desired. + Must be able to meet any Government or Company-required licensing/qualification requirements for this position. + The ability to read, write, and comprehend/interpret data is required. Preferred **KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS** + Must have a working knowledge of aircraft repair procedures for surfaces, electronics equipment, aircraft structure, or fuel cells. + Understanding of corrosion control techniques is required. + Basic knowledge of aircraft logbooks, maintenance records, and applicable maintenance/technical manuals, publications, and forms is preferred. + Able to follow base, federal, and Company procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials. + Must be proficient in Office software applications to communicate through e-mail and various software applications.; especially Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. + Ability to meet required deadlines and maintain necessary workflow. + Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate in the English language and follow both verbal and written instructions. **Physical Requirements/Working Environment** + Normal work will be in aircraft maintenance hangar, shop areas, or flight line environments with moderate exposure to noise hazards. + Exposure to prolonged periods of sitting, standing, stooping, or kneeling. + Must be able to lift/push/pull a minimum of 50 pounds. + Administrative duties that may require occasional kneeling, standing, stooping, and bending. + Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day. + May be required to handle hazardous materials. **Travel** + Travel is required 30% for work and/or customer specifications. + Travel is required in support of detachments of unknown duration.
