Aircraft Mechanic II (LUH-72 A&P) CBA Barstow/Daggett
The **Aircraft Mechanic II (LUH-72) A&P** maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty. + Maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components. + Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation. + Requires working knowledge of technical publications. + Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects. + Removes and installs aircraft subsystem assemblies and components such as engines, rotors, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components. + Services and lubricates aircraft and subsystems. + Safely prepares aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks and services. + Performs scheduled inspections and assists in performing special inspections. + Performs limited maintenance operational checks and diagnoses and troubleshoots aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment as required. + Uses and performs operator maintenance on tools, special tools, and aircraft ground support equipment. + Uses a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts. + Uses a knowledge of electrical theory and of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. + Uses a working knowledge of technical publications and the Government STAMIS to make entries in aircraft logs and records. + Receives technical assistance, as required, from higher-level technician. + May be designated as a Foreign Object Elimination/Foreign Object Debris (FOE/FOD) Program Administrator. + As qualified and when required can perform non-crew member duties. + When required can use Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) for job duties. + Perform other qualified duties as assigned. + Must be able to work any shift as required by Union. **Minimum Requirements** + Must be able to Read, Write and Communicate effectively in English + Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and software applications. + The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. + Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day. + Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands. + Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders. + Will be required to handle dirty parts and lubricants. + Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). + Must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification. + Must be able to lift/push/pull minimum of 50 pounds. + Must be able to work in a shop where the environment is drafty, noisy, and dirty. + Shall have two years aviation maintenance experience, three years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned MDS. All experience must be within the five most recent years. + Shall have three years aviation maintenance experience, three years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS). All experience must be within the five most recent years. + All mechanics assigned to perform maintenance on FAA certified aircraft must meet FAA requirements. Valid FAA A&P Certificate Required. + Shall possess the level of experience necessary to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by skill class Mechanic I and must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions. + Shall have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, repair procedures and replacement of parts; requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair. + Shall have basic knowledge of electrical theory. + Shall have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers + Shall have a working knowledge of making entries in aircraft logbooks & records, military technical publications, and the Army's Unit Level Logistics Aviation Information System, ULLSAE. + Must provide own tools/toolbox. Tools must be shadowed and etched with PID + Valid Drivers License + High School Diploma or Equivalent required. + Must be available and flexible to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays. + Ability to travel based on operational requirements. **Clearance Requirements:** + Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility. **Physical Requirements:** + The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, or snow, ice, etc. + May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. + May be exposed to electrical shock hazards. + Must be able to routinely lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. + Must be able to perform duties of the job including, but not limited to, standing, lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling for extended periods of time. + Frequently required to climb or balance and work in small spaces, ladder work and working at heights at or above 40feet is required.
