Aircraft Mechanic II - Sheetmetal

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:\n\nThis individual will perform structural repairs on rotary and fixed wing aircraft.\n\n

DUTIES:\n\nWork will involve planning, designing and laying out of all types of aviation sheet metal work from blueprints, models or other specifications, setting up and operating all available types of sheet metal working machines. \nThe use of a variety of hand tools in cutting, bending, forming shaping, riveting, and assembling are required\nOther duties as assigned\n\n

EDUCATION \/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:\n\nHS diploma or equivalent \nAn FAA Airframe license is desired.\nMust have completed a military or vocational school. \n12 years' experience with aircraft structural systems maintenance \nMust have experience in corrosion control practices including removal and treatment \nA previous holder of 68G\/15G MOS or other service branch equivalent is preferred \nMust demonstrate knowledge of military technical manuals \nMust be a U.S. Citizen \nMust have or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance\n\n

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:\n

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.\n\nMust be able to walk and stand on level and\/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.\nMust be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands, working at heights with fall protection devices\nMust be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow\/knee and reach above\/below shoulders.\nMay be required to lift up to 50 pounds and carry for short distances.\nMay be required to read dials\/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.\nMust be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.\nMust be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.\nMust be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.\nMay be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, APU, etc.\nWork in an inside\/outside environment to include working around machinery, objects, vehicles, ladders, and scaffolds.\nExcessive noise and vibration that can be intermittent or constant.\nEnvironmental conditions can included but not limited to dust, silica, asbestos, fumes, smoke, gas, solvents such as degreasing agents, grease, oils, and electrical energy\nWorking on slippery or uneven surfaces\nWorking closely with others or working alone\nPossible protracted or irregular hours of work as needed or required.\n\n
