Your OpportunityStantec GS has an opportunity for a full-time Senior Special Use Airspace (SUA) Analyst to play an integral part in helping support our nationwide Department of Defense environmental planning programs. Working in a team environment, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading and contributing to site visits, data collection, and analysis of impacts and use of SUA for environmental assessments, environmental impact statements, and associated studies CONUS and OCONUS. This position will provide important support to environmental planning documentation evaluating potential effects from U.S. military training programs. The successful candidate must have the legal right to work in United States. Certain assignments may require ability to obtain a security clearance.
Your Key Responsibilities Analyze data and information related to airspace design, usage, systems, and technologies to optimize airspace capacity and safety Conduct market research and competitive analysis within the airspace industry Monitor and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to airspace management Prepare technical reports and presentations Provide analytical support to various airspace planning projects Provide support in the development of airspace redesign proposals and air traffic/airspace management strategies. Review and interpret airspace utilization data, flight schedules, and traffic flow to identify potential improvements or bottlenecks Prepare and present reports on airspace usage, traffic patterns, and optimization recommendations. Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure the feasibility and success of airspace projects Develop and maintain an understanding of current airspace technologies and trends Perform risk assessments and recommend strategies to mitigate potential risks Assist with budget planning and cost projections Project Management Your Capabilities and Credentials Experience with, and understanding of, both military and civil aviation. Understanding of Controlled Airspace (Class A-E); Uncontrolled Airspace; Special Use Airspace (Prohibited Areas, Restricted Areas, Military Operations Areas, Warning Areas, Alert Areas, Controlled Firing Areas, National Security Areas); and other relevant airspace (Advisory Areas, Temporary Flight Restrictions, Military Training Routes, Aerial Refueling Tracks, Air Traffic Control Assigned Airspace). Understanding of military flight operations. Demonstrated technical writing skills and strong verbal communication; able to prepare written reports detailing the results of technical studies. Provide expert technical review of various planning documents in the field of Special Use Airspace. Provide expert planning advice to clients in the field Special Use Airspace applications. Experience preparing or contributing to environmental assessments/impact statements pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Excel, and data analysis software Demonstrated experience and strong desire for multi-disciplinary internal collaboration, and proposal development; strong interpersonal and social skills and ability to interact across a broad range of audiences/technical backgrounds including internal and external clients and regulatory agencies. Exceptional organizational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision. Willingness and ability to travel for project work. Previous experience as a military pilot or Air Traffic Controller is highly preferred.
