ALAD TEST MECHANIC
Summary You will serve as a ALAD TEST MECHANIC in the FLEET READINESS CNETER MID ATLANTIC, FRCMA VRT DEPT of FLTREADCEN DET MID ATLANTIC PAX RIVER. Responsibilities You will ensure that Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) meets technical specifications and requirements. You will evaluate procedures, tooling, and read and interpret engineering, manufacturing drawings, and technical publications. You will gather, correlate, and analyze facts, complex problems, and issues and present a recommended solution to the supervisor. Reports to the supervisor on status and progress of work and causes of work delays. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION. Have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks including 1. Assemble and disassembly, overhaul, repair, installing and testing of ALRE systems and components in support of product development programs without the aid of drawings; 2. Preparing sketches and serving engineering integrated product teams in the design, prototyping and manufacturing of new or replacement parts; 3. Performing or assisting with work typical of other trades including: pipefitting; welding; rigging; machining; sheet metal fabrication; and electrical wiring to maintain project timelines; 4. Recognizing overall effects of design changes during processing; anticipating flaws; and, taking corrective action; 5. Operating various stationary and portable power tools and high pressure air & hydraulic pumps used for functional and hydrostatic testing of ALRE components; and, 6. Using hand tools and measuring instruments (e.g. micrometers, vernier calipers, height gauges, dial indicators, optical tooling, recording instruments, flow meters, pressure controllers, etc.) Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification Handbook for Trades and Labor Occupations.
