Alumni Association and Foundation Accountant

Overview:

The Alumni Association and Foundation (AAF) Accountant plays a pivotal role in supporting the financial health and operations of our institution. This position offers the unique opportunity to work closely with various stakeholders, including the AAF’s Treasurer, Investment Committee (Board members), external accounting firms and financial institutions, while building relationships across multiple university departments such as advancement, payroll, budget and continuous improvement teams. The AAF Accountant assists with financial management, accounting requirements, and maintaining financial records and databases. Your knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), financial reporting standards, internal auditing, and tax regulations will be invaluable as you contribute to the financial success of the AAF. In this opportunity, you will collaborate with passionate professionals across the university, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data and supporting continuous improvement efforts.

Required Qualifications:

Associate degree with a major in accounting, business administration or business management, with concentration in accountingFour years of experience in the accounting field, including experience with fund accounting standards and proceduresExperience with investment management principles with preference given to daily operation of non-profit 501(c)3 organizationWorking knowledge of budget planning and data management

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting, business administration or business managementExperience working with volunteer boards and committees in an effective and professional manner and handling confidential matters with discretionExperience managing multiple complex assignments and coordinating team efforts efficientlyProficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and familiarity with Financial Edge and FundriverAbility to understand, explain and apply the law, rules, regulations, policies and procedures while exercising independent and sound judgmentEffective written and oral communication skills with experience interacting tactfully with others


Working Conditions:
This is a hybrid position withweeklyon-campus, in-person responsibilities in Salem, MA which may require occasional work on evenings and weekends.

Office activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and interaction with computer equipment; Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 5 pounds.
