Learn more at HonorHealth.com. Responsibilities Job Summary Supervises activities of pharmacy technician functions and communicates findings and activities to the Director of Pharmacy as needed. Accountable for managing the day to day activities of the technician staff, evaluating and maintaining workflow, providing staff development and education, and evaluating the level of technician performance. The position has supervisory responsibility for recruitment, hiring, retention, performance development, performance management, and termination of direct reports. The position ensures compounded sterile preparations are prepared safely in accordance with USP requirements if applicable, professional standards of practice, and laws, rules, and regulations. Additionally, this position will assist the registered pharmacist in the daily provision of pharmaceutical services to the patients of Honor Health. This includes the processes of drug procurement, large and small volume IV preparation, and medication distribution to the patient care center, and a variety of clerical support functions. This position will serve as a liaison to assist in the appropriate and timely delivery of pharmaceutical products to our patients under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. Oversees the personnel assigned to the section. Plans, establishes, and revises work assignments. Interviews, selects, and recommends hiring of personnel. Initiates recommendations for changes in classification, salary action, promotion, demotion, transfer and termination. Creates and administers performance evaluations. May settle employee problems and administer appropriate disciplinary action. Participates in the continual monitoring, communication, follow up, and evaluation of pharmacy technician staff. Performs duties of a Pharmacy Technician when needed. Administrative responsibilities includes but not limited to: -Monitors pharmacy schedules and payroll records -Schedules personnel to assume adequate coverage at all times. -Maintains and processes payroll accurately and according to payroll schedule Coordinate with the management team to plan production staffing requirements on a daily, weekly, and quarterly basis. Oversees activities of pharmacy technician staff to promote efficient daily workflow, and coordinates scheduling. Works to minimize disturbances in workflow, unplanned events, and problems to promote smooth-running operations. Assures departmental policies and procedures are being followed, medication orders are being prepared in a timely manner, and the quality of products prepared meets established departmental guidelines. Works with the Director of Pharmacy to plan, develop, and oversee implementation of Pharmacy Technician services. Makes recommendations for improving pharmacy services and procedures when needed. Provides education and support the implementation of projects, programs and pharmacy initiatives. Assists the Director of Pharmacy, 340B Manager and/or Pharmacy Supervisor in data collection, analysis, and reporting of quality improvement and quality assessment activities as necessary. Assures compliance with departmental quality assurance activities including expiration date checking, refrigerator temperature monitoring, laminar air flow hood cleaning documentation, and equipment calibration verification as applicable. Inventory Responsibilities (if applicable): -Performs purchasing and inventory control functions on a daily operational basis. Reviews and inventories stock to be ordered, procured, or requisitioned through various wholesalers and acceptable vendors and ensures proper storage, quality and integrity. -Receives and validates invoices to ensure order is appropriate and complete and in compliance with contracts, cost management and laws and regulations. -Maintains inventory levels based on budgetary goals and communicates critical shortages, high dollar or high volume drugs. -Coordinates drug recalls, drug transfer logs and manages the hospital formulary inventory. -Performs 340B Split Billing database management and quarterly internal auditing. Coordinates orientation and assures development and completion of a training plan for all new pharmacy technician employees. Identifies the educational needs of the pharmacy technicians and works to develop a means to meet those needs. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED Required Experience 3 years as a Pharmacy Technician Required Licenses and Certifications Pharmacy\LPT - Licensed Pharmacy Tech Licensed Pharmacy Tech Current license by AZ State Board as Pharmacy Technician Upon Hire Required Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPT) National Pharmacy Tech Cert Upon Hire Required
