The Job:
As a AME Injection Molding Tooling Engineer, you’ll be part of our Tools & Outdoor team working as an Onsite employee. You’ll get to:
Work with product design teams on DFM and DFA for new plastic components to ensure consistent, high-quality output at industry-competitive costs.Appropriate draft callouts and feature geometriesDatum structures to support accurate and repeatable inspection methodsGD&T consistent with injection molding process capabilitiesUtilize mold flow simulation and analysis to guide part design for improved manufacturabilityCollaborate on part geometry to support optimized tool design (cavitation, inserts, gating, ejector pin location, cooling, etc)Support the global sourcing team in building and submitting RFQ packages that solicit all necessary inputs to make a balanced evaluation of tooling and piece price costs across multiple mold configuration optionsServe as the primary technical contact for all external tooling vendors leading interaction on specification reviews, quoting, fabrication and tune in of all plastic injection molds.Responsible for delivering molds consistent with SBD specifications and standards relative to build quality and performance.Drive on-time delivery of all new plastic components through close collaboration with project design teams, mold fabrication vendors and manufacturing facility resources.Support the technical development of global injection molding resources including process development, equipment capabilities, industry safety protocols, etc.Identify global best practices and drive the implementation of these processes (both manufacturing and administrative) across all manufacturing sites.Stay abreast of industry standards and new technologies associated with injection molding and collaborate with regional business leads to implement where appropriate.Work with resources across various functions to manage our global injection molding footprint to support our global manufacturing strategy.The Person:

BS Degree or equivalent in Plastics Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering. Relative experience may be considered as a substitute in lieu of a degree.Minimum of three (3) years of experience in plastic injection mold design/development, high-volume molding process engineering and/or molding parameter optimization. Hands on mold fabrication/repair a plus.Experience with 2D & 3D drafting software – CATIA & AUTOCAD preferred.Strong analytical problem-solving skills with knowledge of statistical methods (DOE & SPC), lean 6-sigma practices for process improvement and troubleshooting.Working knowledge of GD&T and CMM inspection methods2-shot molding, insert molding & thermoset material transfer/injection molding knowledgePart and mold simulation driving MOLDEX – Moldflow - CIMATRON a plus.Ability to independently project manage multiple projects in parallel to meet critical timelines.Possess a high attention to detail and strong organizational skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc)Ability to communicate effectively throughout various levels of the organization.Results orientated and driven to learn and accept challenge.Demonstrate a positive attitude and patience in the face of adversity.Strong capability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization via both oral and written methods.Must be able to work with a global team including remote design and manufacturing centers.Potential for international and domestic travel up to 15%The Details:

The base pay range for this position in Maryland is $85,500 - $154,000 per year. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on payment may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
