Based in our Elyria, Ohio location, you will be a key member of the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team that designs and implements automated manufacturing technologies and processes in a fast-paced CNC machining environment. This role will help design, plan, and deliver quality system solutions that optimize cost, capital investment, and performance of highly automated machining cells. It is very hands-on and is expected to be a domain expert in CMM programming, Inspection Equipment and Techniques, and the PPAP process.

IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE TO:

Work with cross-functional teams to identify and address current manufacturing challenges across multiple product lines. Benchmark current inspection tools and techniques and find opportunities for improvement and innovation in inspection processes. Coordinate and manage projects to design, justify, procure, qualify and implement inspection equipment and processes while maintaining project schedules and budgets. Create/modify programs for automated inspection equipment such as CMMs, vision systems and optical comparators Develop inspection plans and conduct Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) inspections on new equipment, ensuring that all components meet required quality standards before release to production. Collect and analyze data from inspection processes to identify trends, root causes of defects, and opportunities for process improvement. Serve as technical support for assigned quality responsibilities. Perform design/manufacturing process FMEA activities, and determine root cause of failures using various methods (i.e. Design of Experiment, Statistical Process Control, Root Cause Analysis, A3). Other duties as assigned

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:

Bachelor’s Degree plus three (3) years related experience or Two (2) year technical degree plus five (5) years related experience (intern/co-op experience will be considered)  Appropriate knowledge, demonstrated competence, and experience with PPAP and other quality management processes. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Experience with CMM Programming (PC-DMIS preferred) and operating various inspection equipment including CMMs, optical comparators, vision systems, height gauges, calipers, micrometers and bore gages Good organizational, project management, and presentation skills to interact with all levels within the organization and with suppliers and customers.  Strong analytical skills and ability to recognize and solve simple and complex problems in manufacturing system design Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced engineering environment.  Legal authorization to work in the United States – Sponsorship for this role will not be provided  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION THAT SET YOU APART:

Strong understanding of GD&T Experience with ERP and QMS software (JDE and EtQ preferred) Practitioner of Six Sigma and LEAN and application of Six Sigma/LEAN tools.  Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint  Ability to work independently without supervision  Ability to collaborate on a cross-functional team
