This is a full-time job, and the main responsibilities include transporting and loading/unloading materials, tools, and equipment to various job sites. You will be required to assist with labor or equipment operator tasks, and support the company goals by following all Federal, State and Local DOT and FRA regulations.
Job Tasks:
• Drive safely in tight settings such as construction zones.
• Follow truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions.
• Report defects, accidents or violations
• Willingness to always wear Personal Protective Equipment.
• Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance. Any issues found will need to be brought to the attention of our in-house mechanic.
• Safely drive and haul equipment on a flatbed/low-boy trailer in a variety of conditions.
• Deliver and recover a variety of equipment, tools, and supplies to and from the customer worksite.
Requirements:
• Ability to secure a load to a trailer - Required.
• Ability to operate various pieces of heavy equipment.
• Experience in railroad construction is a plus.
• High school diploma or general education degree preferred.
• Valid Class A CDL license and clean driving record required.
• Pre-employment drug screen and background check required.
• Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly (sometimes staying out of town overnight)
• Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
• Able to work out of town on occasion.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, etc.); uneven surfaces; safety sensitive work environment
