Job Summary:

The Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) Testing analyst will be an individual contributor who will work closely with peers, stakeholders, and the heads of the compliance testing and surveillance team to implement the NTAM Compliance Testing and Monitoring Framework. The overall focus of the team and this position is on assessing the effectiveness of NTAM’s compliance policies.

Responsibilities will include:

Work with process and control owners to understand and document how their business activities meet applicable policy and regulatory requirementsDraft and execute tests designed to validate whether processes and controls are operating as intendedEffectively communicate testing projects, scope, and results with stakeholders and managementRecommend enhancements to processes and controls where policy or regulatory requirements are not being fully metTrack control weaknesses, remediation plans, and testing plan progressCoordinate deep dives into the design and effectiveness of processes and controls relevant to topics of heightened compliance risks or regulatory interest  Advise business partners on compliance programs and applicable laws, regulations, rules, and standardsMonitor regulatory developments such as new or amended rules, guidance, and enforcement actions, and use that information to help drive testing prioritiesSupport the NTAM Compliance Surveillance program through reviews of system alerts that identify potential manipulative trading activity as needed Actively support the enhancement of the NTAM Compliance Program, generallyDemonstrate willingness and flexibility in responsibilities as the team structure evolves;

Qualifications:

Knowledge of the asset management industry, products, and processesFamiliarity with laws and regulations applicable to asset managers, particularly the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, Investment Company Act of 1940, and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA)Curious and analytical mindset to be able to learn and critically assess processes and controls for consistency with policy and regulatory requirementsCommunication skills to be able to explain the purpose, requirements, and results of a test to colleagues as well as managementOrganization skills to be able to manage several tests and tasks simultaneouslyResearch skills to be able to locate, understand, and summarize relevant rules, policy requirements, or internal records as needed

Salary Range:

$61,500 - 98,300 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
