The Role

The role is pivotal in helping Condé Nast develop its privacy programme maturity, efficiency and reporting on status, including remediation of gaps and special projects. You will support programmes, playbooks and standard operating procedures for privacy compliance processes. Your role will require working with internal and cross-functional teams globally. You will leverage cross-domain expertise to collaborate with various teams and stakeholders on complex and sensitive data privacy initiatives. In particular you will collaborate with the Data & Technology Legal team to translate legal requirements into privacy programme deliverables and processes.

The Team 

The Data Governance team supports Technology and Legal in initiatives that increase trust in and utility of data at Condè Nast, to ensure internal and regulatory compliance while driving operational excellence. 

The Data Governance & Privacy Analyst will work in a dynamic team responsible for delivering operational initiatives that drive data privacy and compliance. Initial responsibilities involve contributing to the development and subsequent iterations of a roadmap for effective data mapping and lineage capabilities, in order to establish comprehensive and trustable repositories that align our understanding of information flows across Condé Nast and enable efficient handling of DSR (data subject request), generation of ROPA (record of processing activities) and DPIA (data protection impact assessment) documents by Legal.

What will you be doing?

Contribute to the Data Privacy and Compliance capability framework and product roadmap in Technology, through partnering with Engineering peers to deliver across brands, platforms and enterprise technology

Develop and deliver data mapping, including generating and updating detailed documentation of first and third party data use and flows across the data ecosystem in Condé Nast markets, starting with UK and EU 

Support efforts in compliance with privacy requirements at Condé Nast, through contributing to data mapping workstreams, curation of data assets with Alation and implementing applicable procedures, training and guidance materials

Provide oversight for processes and procedures related to data mapping changes and work with internal stakeholders and third-party service providers to ensure informational freshness

Support Legal and Data Protection colleagues in risk assessments, regularly reviewing records of processing activity and developing internal and external data audit functions, to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines globally

Deliver auditing and monitoring on data processing and transfer of our first and third party engagement to verify analytics and consent configuration, as well as ensure compliance with contractual terms and GDPR compliance

Support Data Governance colleagues in schema governance, data standardisation and analytics efforts, Promote new methods, standards and techniques relating to good data governance practices through provision of education and training on data governance, methods and lifecycle management

Who you are?

Possess good  years of experience in EU data privacy, data governance, data management, advertising and media operations or related

Demonstrate an understanding of data privacy principles, practices and tools, with the ability to implement data mapping practices and standards effectively

Good knowledge of relevant data privacy laws and regulations (e.g. GDPR, CCPA), with data privacy certification (e.g. CIPP) desirable

Working knowledge of U.S. and/or APAC privacy laws and regulations is an added advantage

Experience in working with media or advertising environment, coupled with understanding of data handling across relevant technology ecosystems

Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences clearly

Showcase intermediate-level analytical and problem-solving abilities, enabling strategic thinking and innovative solutions to business challenges

Hold the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, adept at managing multiple priorities and stakeholders effectively

Be ready to delve into intricate processes, in order to handle copious and repetitive amounts of documentation and/or investigate data quality issues.

Experience identifying, analysing and remediating recent data privacy issues, involving code review, data protection impact assessments and audits

Good knowledge of data privacy approaches including cookie banners, consent exemptions, retention policies, data encryption and access controls

Working knowledge of compliant data collection, processing, usage and sharing, in line with wider Technology/Product/Data teams
