Job Profile: Analyst, Market Analytics
Reports to: Director, Market Strategies
LOCATION: 1 Presidents Choice Circle, Brampton, ON, L6Y 5S5 OR 3225 12 St NE #100, Calgary, AB T2E 7S9
Role Mandate:
The successful candidate will be responsible to performing a variety of analytic functions to identify key demographic data, provide market analysis (through data driven insights and market visits), perform sales forecasts and develop locational strategies to build the Loblaw Companies Limited (Grocery and Drug) retail network.
Duties:
Critically assess locations for potential capital investment. Perform sales analysis and create sales estimates for potential and existing stores within the Loblaw Companies Limited (Grocery and Drug) retail network of stores.Contribute to a national market strategy to identify areas for incremental store growth based on metrics such as but not limited to: population growth, market share and store performance.Liaises with municipal and contracting planners to monitor respective regional growth areas, estimate future population growth and research potential commercial opportunities. Monitor competitive activity, update relational databases and contribute to national and regional level reporting.Fulfills various requests for information including extracting data from various databases and creating trade area maps to develop site visit packages for Real Estate Directors and other departments as requested.Participate on site visits and market tours as required.Liaises with Real Estate Directors and provides input to determine overall strategy for site positioning as well as appropriate banner for the market.Role Requirements:
Post-secondary education equivalent to a university degree in Urban Planning, Geography or related field. Masters of Spatial Analysis preferred. Practical GIS experience required (MapInfo Professional).Minimum 1 year of research & financial analysis or equivalent experience - knowledge of statistical analysis is an asset. Familiar with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Access & PowerPoint).Knowledge of the Canadian retail market, grocery and/or Pharmacy experience preferred.Experience with presenting to various levels of upper management.Ability to work autonomously in a hybrid workplace environment as well as coordinate and collaborate with colleagues across regional offices.Requires an understanding of inter-related work processes to be able to adapt to differing assignments.Ability to pay close attention to details. Makes sure work is done correctly and thoroughly - keeps accurate records.Computer skills to produce effective reports, documents and presentations. Updates and maintains critical databases.Sound knowledge of analytical practices and procedures.Professional manner, tact, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with external contacts and colleagues including senior management.Draws on a number of known options to solve problems and to develop improvements.Adaptable to set and prioritize work with varying exceptions.Able to work with diverse personalities and styles. Communicates with clarity, verbally and in one on one or group situations, or over the telephone.This position requires work related travel (as needed based on projects – nationwide) and access to a vehicle is preferred.For this position we are exploring candidates nationally, the successful candidate would be stationed in one of two national offices: Alberta (Calgary), Ontario (Brampton)
