The Analyst will play a critical role in managing our company's payroll, benefits and overall HR data functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing of payroll for all employees. This position requires a high level of analytical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of payroll regulations and best practices.

 In this role you will:

Drive the  day-to-day payroll functions for assigned countries, which may include but not limited to new hires, terminations, bonuses, direct deposits, off-cycle payrolls, ESPP, stock vests and monthly/semi-monthly payroll cycles

Verify various payroll outputs and ensure accuracy, submit journal entries to Accounting, and 

Keep abreast of the latest tax laws and regulations affecting payroll, ensuring the company remains compliant at all times

Be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payment of salaries, bonuses, and other forms of compensation

Prepare reconciliations (account, invoice, accrual, etc.) related to People and benefits data and follow up with internal partners to resolve variances; proactively research exception items and coordinate proper corrective action

Process garnishments, expense reimbursements, monetary perks

Prepare reports for state and federal filing and respond to inquiries submitted by governmental agencies. 

Test and implement HRIS systems and procedures to drive efficiencies and reduce costs

Protect employee privacy

Be a primary point of contact for internal and external audit inquiries and data requests.

Resolve issues related to unclaimed payroll checks

Assist with requests from Finance, Accounting, and Audit as assigned

We’re looking for someone with:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

3+ years of payroll, tax, or accounting experience

Employee benefits experience

Knowledge of payroll reporting, taxation, and general accounting

Strong understanding of state and federal payroll and tax regulations

Experience with Workday is a strong preference

Strong knowledge of payroll software, databases, and MS Office, especially Excel

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working collaboratively across departments.

Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment while working under pressure and tight deadlines

Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential material

Demonstrated performance of research, conducting investigations and/or studies sufficient to recommend change in policies, practices, and procedures  

Payroll certification is a plus: such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), American Payroll Association (APA), Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC), American Payroll Association (APA), Certified Payroll Manager (CPM), Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP), Certified Payroll Specialist (CPS), Certified Payroll Administrator, Workday, Inc., Payroll Technician Certificate, National Association of Certified Public Bookkeepers (NACPB)

In California, the base salary range for this position is: 70,000 - $80,000 in addition to an annual variable bonus based on performance and company equity (NASDAQ: MGNI).
