About the Job 

In support of the primary Portfolio Managers in the Utility, Power and Renewable Energy team, analysts perform financial analysis and prepare underwriting documents to support complex multimillion-dollar credit requests. Primary responsibility will be to assist in managing the team’s $5 billion portfolio of power loans.

Essential Job Functions 

Prepares analysis and write-ups for amendments, consents and waivers to existing credit documentation

Monitors accounts to determine liquidity, earnings and performance trends, management capability and other essential information to secure the bank's position to minimize potential losses.

Manages completion of quarterly risk reviews and annual reviews of loans

Maintains extensive database of project performance, statistics and general information

Creates Quarterly Power Portfolio review for distribution to credit organization

Reviews and processes monthly withdrawal certificates for project companies and interacts with internal clients to ensure smooth execution

Assists primary Portfolio Managers in analysis and preparation of new deals

Identifies potential problem accounts and works to improve the bank's position in undesirable situations

Supports in the due diligence, documentation and closing of credit facilities

Prepares white papers on new initiatives in industry

Conducts periodic site visits to assess management, business conditions and build rapport with accounts.

Attends bank meetings on a regular basis

Helps Investment Bankers/Relationship Managers in structuring transactions

Contributes to other tasks for the team as needed

Required Qualifications:

BA in finance, business, economics or related field. 

Competence in Financial Modeling, demonstrated by

a) Repetitive modeling

b) Good accounting knowledge

c) Unique analysis

d) View on optimal capital structure

e) Cash flow modeling

f) Analysis in support of due diligence

g) Knowledge of collateral valuation

Financial Accounting Acumen

Working in MS Office suite of products – Word, Excel, PowerPointAcquiring knowledge in bank systems such as CWA, MRA Risk Rating and ROE Models

Strong data gathering skills

Conducting Research -- How to use it, where to find it and leveraging prior deal knowledgeDigging deeper into the meaning of the data gathered

Solid Loan Product Knowledge

Developing covenants and collateral packageAppreciating commercial banking products -- cash management, FX, derivatives, etc.Grasping Investment Banking activities

Professional and Competent Communication Skills

Presenting information verballyWriting succinct, clear communications that use relevant data and facts to support ideaOrganizing thoughts and ideas in easily digestible formatUtilizing proper grammar and spelling
