Analyst, Project Development and Commercial Development

Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned)

As an Analyst on the Project Development team, you will be responsible for supporting the development team’s processes to ensure cross functional and external coordination across the existing asset portfolio and deal pipeline. You will support the development activities including all aspects of power generation project development and project acquisitions, from inception to execution across diverse North American regions and independent system operators. The primary expectations of the role will include the following:

Job Responsibilities

Supporting the development teams, implementation and management of processes that require cross functional coordination across scheduling, contracting and budget development. Providing support to development leads to ensure compliance with internal Calpine processes. Staying updated on industry trends, regulations, and innovations.  Supporting the development team’s relationships with external partners, stakeholders, and communities. Assisting in the identification and evaluation of potential sites for power generation projects, considering factors such as resource availability, environmental impact, and regulatory requirements. Supporting studies that assess the technical, financial, and environmental viability of proposed projects. Providing support to the pursuit of the required permits, licenses, and approvals from regulatory authorities and stakeholders. Assisting in the management of project budgets. Working with the engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure seamless project implementation. Monitoring project progress, identifying potential risks, and implementing mitigation strategies to ensure projects stay on track.

Job Requirements

 Bachelor’s degree in finance, Marketing, Business or related field or equivalent Typically requires 1-3 year's experience Experience with project development in energy areas, a plus. Able to work effectively across organizational lines. Broad knowledge of the energy industry.
