EPCOR’s Ontario Commercial Services has a Regulatory Energy Analyst [Full-Time Temporary] position for up to 12 months to join the Electricity Distribution group for our Toronto location. The Regulatory Energy Analyst is accountable for the collection, validation and presentation of Natural Gas and Electricity market data to ensure compliance with regulatory and market requirements. You will be accountable to the Manager, Ontario Gas Supply, and operate within the context and prescribed limits established by the Manager. 

 

What you’d be responsible for

Managing Direct Purchase program and interfacing with natural gas marketers, including establishment of Daily Contract Quantity (DCQ), coordinating pool balancing transactions, creating, and maintaining Direct Purchase balancing reports.Assisting in developing and maintaining utility-level energy demand forecast models.Supporting the timely preparation of Regulatory filings (RRR/Gas Supply Plan/QRAM/IRM etc.).Gathering market data to complete daily/monthly annual financial settlement and reconciliations for electricity and natural gas applications.Developing, implementing, and reviewing Analytics and Regulatory Research processes to ensure compliance to policies, standards, regulatory requirements and ensure mitigation of risks.Monitoring regulatory trends and decisions, preparing, interpreting, and reporting information to appropriate stakeholders as determined by the Manager.Identifying the necessary budget requirements for Benchmarking databases, issue monitoring and reporting, and research support.Maintaining competitive fuels market database and supporting gas nomination process.

 

What’s required to be successful

Completion of post-secondary degree from a recognized educational institution in Engineering, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related discipline.Professional designation (P.Eng, CA, CMA, CGA or CFA) is highly desirable.5+ years’ experience in electric or natural gas utility industry.Sound understanding of Ontario energy industry structure, regulatory, environment and policy development.Proven solid analytical skills and demonstrated your ability to collect and analyze information, problem-solve, and make decisions.Strong numerical and data management skills combined with proficiency in MS Office (Excel and Access).Exceptional communication (verbal and written) skills and can influence strategies when advising business unit leadership of the impacts of operational decisions.An effective team member and attentive to details while actively assisting and guiding the development of appropriate processes to support business goals.

This is a professional level position and that typically works Monday to Friday (40 hours per week)
