Position OverviewThe Transportation Modeling Analyst will aid quality operational decisions impacting the supply chain with specific emphasis on outbound transportation operations. This job produces "what-if" analyses in the form of metrics files and presentation slides for review by supply chain leadership, warehouse operators, transportation operators, and financial partners. A set of continually changing & improving simulation and optimization tools are used to create the metrics outputs. There is an expectation to present to leaders up to the VP level.In this role, you will also act as an advisor and subject matter expert for the business, able to answer various questions about each DC operation and general facts about transportation simulation and optimization. This role is responsible for continuously improving existing modeling processes and tools.

Conduct operations research in order to develop accurate data models from a variety of data sources (MySQL, Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server) as well as drawing information from operations teams.Use transportation modeling desktop applications to load data models, run baseline simulations, and run what-if scenarios.Utilize transportation optimization tools and algorithms to optimize customer delivery schedules, customer delivery timing, and delivery resources.Present actionable recommendations to finance teams, operations teams, and senior leadership teams with clear, concise communication and visual representations. Present to leaders up to the VP level (rarely asked to present to SVP level or above). Support finance teams with accurate transportation metrics and rationale for operational changes.Refresh data models to keep baseline data at the ready for optimization and simulation.Improve existing transportation optimization tools, algorithms, and processes to better optimize network constraints and project flow.Support management team with ad-hoc requests including but not limited to quantifying change requests for service providers and customers, or performing cost-benefit analyses of new transportation technology applications available.Occasional travel regionally when an operational problem cannot be appreciated through data alone.Travel Required:Yes
