Day to day Activities:
Analysts in our fast-paced Energy & Infrastructure Team work on a variety of assignments, including consulting, optimizing financial accounting workflows and processes, providing industry research, business plan design, financial consulting, due diligence, joint venture audits and other financial and advisory services to companies in the target sectors.
With extensive cumulative experience, the team specializes in the oil and gas sector, in which both financial and technical capabilities have been developed to meet the end needs of our clients. In addition to the focus on energy & infrastructure, the team works with clients across diverse industries, such as retail, insurance, real estate, water services, among others.
The position therefore requires a strong focus on quantitative and qualitative analysis, processing of industry related accounting and financial data and research abilities paired with natural curiosity of understanding the energy & infrastructure sectors and high tolerance for non-linear workstreams and tight deadlines. This role can also involve extensive client interaction. A successful analyst will:
Process and analyze vast amounts of information in a timely manner. Analyze the financial reports issued by the client companies, such as budget, financial statements, planning document and other industry-related documents. Achieve in-depth knowledge of the different value chains in the energy sector. Prepare market and regulatory analyses necessary to understand relevant aspects of business operations in specific geographies. Attending client meetings and interviews to gather key data and information necessary to develop the project, such as financial parameters, operational details, accounting information, among others. Execute risk assessments, data analysis, audit programs, and testing approaches based on the managers’ guidance.
Being an Analyst in the Energy & Infrastructure Team also means that the candidate will:
Balance priorities and interactions with the manager in charge of the project to ensure that expectations are met within the applicable policies and technical and professional limits. Work with a “think-outside-the-box” approach and in a multidisciplinary team including finance professionals, economists, petroleum engineers, among others. Create and update presentations such as commercial proposals, sales support materials, etc. Produce reports and working papers of the highest quality.
Essential Traits:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or similar, or petroleum engineering or similar with a strong interest in finance. Minimum current cumulative GPA of 85. Strong desire to focus on the energy & infrastructure industries and becoming the link between financial and technical experts in the field. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment and willingness to immerse yourself in technical aspects of the industry. Ability to conduct research, gather, organize and analyze data and information to support analytics and other consulting deliverables. Availability to travel overseas multiple times per year for several weeks straight. Ability to collaborate effectively both in internal offices and onsite at client locations, ensuring smooth communication and productive cooperation in various work environments. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills in Spanish and English. Portuguese, Italian, French and/or Arabic will be a plus. Strong knowledge of software packages including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Previous experience in the oil and gas, energy, or infrastructure sectors is regarded as an asset. Previous experience working with ERP systems is preferred.
