Summary:

This position supports and facilitates our power optimization function by ensuring timely energy payment processing, new account setups for our expanding asset base, account disconnects, and various financial and operational analysis. 

Account Setups:

Interface with internal operational and engineering leadership and third party energy providers for utility account setup to ensure power to our assets. Create and process accurate utility request forms and maintain accurate data for our utilities database. Provide outstanding customer service to all internal and external customers.

Bill Payment:

Ensure inbound utility bills are reviewed, analyzed, monitored and processed in a timely manner. Maintain a high degree of organization, attention to detail, and process flow execution to ensure all utility payments are coded and submitted for processing upon receipt.

Analysis:

Analyze third party billing charges versus asset power utilization. Create financial controls to flag billing charges by region and assets. Analyze cost and utilization for budgeting reports.  Collaborate with management on future curve models to understand power pricing trends for improved budgeting accuracy. Analyze peak and off-peak power consumption compared to power rates, utility provide options, maintenance requirements, peak asset operation for asset optimization. Analyze and trouble shoot utility account errors.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Experience with or ability to learn billing, financial processes, and varying levels of operational, budgetary, and financial analysis. Experience with or ability to learn large volume databases and software systems. Excellence in the following skills – organizational, communication (both oral and written), attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment. Ability to prioritize one’s workload and being able to work cross-functionally. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Ability to travel to San Antonio, TX for an initial training period. As we are a highly collaborative organization this position is fully on-site at our Downtown Houston Office.

Preferred experience:

Experience working with ERCOT and energy utilities for account creation and support. Working knowledge of software systems including databases and transactional support software

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

The Associate Analyst level requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 0-2 years of relevant job-related experience. The Analyst level requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience. The Senior Analyst level requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 5+ years of relevant job-related experience. The Lead Analyst level requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 8+ years of relevant job-related experience.

Usually, normal office working conditions.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.

Lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally.

Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
