Job overview and responsibilities

The Analytics and Innovation (Ai) team at United Airlines works to innovate, transform, and solve complex business problems resulting in significant and measurable enterprise impact through the application of deep cross-functional business expertise and advanced analytics. We work with business and technology partners across the enterprise (e.g. Airport Operations, Contact Centers, Network Planning, Revenue Management, Digital Products, Human Resources, etc.) to influence strategic decisions, enterprise strategy, business process, and to help connect the dots across the enterprise. We aim to be an organization with whom and within everyone loves to work! Advanced Analytics team members within Ai apply expertise using big data, analytics, data manipulation, statistics, and modeling to drive innovation and improvement in United's business strategy and operations, that increase revenue, increase customer satisfaction, reduce costs, or have other measurable impact on the airline. Analysts are individual contributors who work hands-on with data, tapping into their expertise to provide solutions in collaboration with other team members.

Applies knowledge of data analysis, data mining, optimization tools, statistical modeling, visualization, data modeling and machine learning techniques to assist in understanding and solving business problemsFind opportunities for improvement, capture and analyze information and data, develop improvements, and deploy solutions to business problems.Test data and/or applications to validate data accuracy/qualityTrack small to medium-sized projects from conceptualization to completion, including assisting in building project roadmaps, project plans, and requirements documentationWorks with team to build visualizations and presentation content to share insights. Supports regular communications and updates with stakeholders and business leaders.QualificationsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Quantitative field such as engineering, business analytics, information systems, aviation management or related work experience.2+ years of related experience1 – 2 years in an analytical roleData analytics, strong strategic and critical thinking, and problem-solving skillsWorking with large datasets and reporting visualization tools, ability to tell a story using dataAbility to communicate complex quantitative concepts in a clear, detailed, and actionable mannerExceptional organization and time management skills, including proactively communicating project timelines and expectationsFamiliarity with database interface tools, SQL and programming conceptsConfirmed proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPointMust be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorshipSuccessful completion of interview required to meet job qualificationReliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the positionPreferred QualificationsMaster's degreeAnalytics, engineering, operations or airlines experienceTableau, Spotfire, or other data visualization tools Experience with statistical analysis and modeling, statistical tools and concepts, (R, SPSS, SAS) preferred
The base pay range for this role is $71,345.00 to $97,240.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
