How will you make an impact in this role?

American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) is the leading payment card issuer for businesses in the United States and supports business owners and companies with products and services to help them run and grow their businesses.GCS Control Management (Specialized OR): The objective of the GCS Control Management Specialized Operational Risk (OR) team is to provide subject matter expertise on specific Operational Risk topics to ensure the BU is equipped with in-depth knowledge of risk-stripes to manage and mitigate these risks effectively; supports the BU with expert guidance for topical Operational Risk intelligence.

GCS Control Management Specialized Operational Risk (OR) is looking for an Analyst (B30 Tier 1) focused on ensuring control management is embedded in the day-to-day operations of our organization. It will involve extensive collaboration with multiple partners across numerous business units, functional areas, and geographies. The incumbent will be, in partnership with AET, applying Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Gen AI (LLM) into a transformative model built to automate the current Regulatory Business Self-Testing around Business Conduct monitoring for GCS.

Purpose of the Role -

Reporting into Band 35 - GCS Control Management COE - India, this Band 30 position will support automation of Conduct Risk Monitoring process for GCS Customer Facing Colleagues.

Responsibilities include:

Develop a deep understanding of Global Commercial Services products and all applicable laws, regulations and AXP policies Collaborate closely with the various stakeholders for the deliverables around automation (includes working with AET to develop and improve the automated prompts/algorithms) Partner and support key project deliverables (Communicate Business requirement decks/project trackers and updates to AET partners as well as first- and second-line business partners) Build business level procedural documents to support the design of automated preventative, predictive, and detective controls - as well as their implementation Analyze data to produce actionable insights, enabling data-driven decisions Deliver periodic and ad hoc reporting against key business testing and monitoring to support management’s awareness and response to control improvements Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Conduct Risk Monitoring automation and for any reviews / audits related to Business Conduct Program. Ensure compliance to the Operational Risk Governance Group, Control Management, Model Risk Management Governance and American Express Compliance standards with respect to documentation, testing, and certification of GCS business monitoring and testing and automation Act as backup in the process for maintaining high standards of accuracy around monitoring with no compromise on controls, meeting SLA deliverables, regular calibrations with quality assurance team and ongoing training of testers including customized trainings basis identify themes and trends

 Minimum Qualifications

Extensive knowledge of operational risk concepts and programs, balanced with the ability to drive assessment of risks against effective controls and tests  Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, Risk Mgmt., or related field; advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, MSc) or certifications are advantageous 2 + Years leadership experience in Risk Management, Operations or Compliance related roles. Robust analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively Strong communication & collaboration skills combined with an ability to interact effectively with senior leaders and business partners Proven ability to adjust quickly to shifting priorities, multiple demands, ambiguity, and rapid change. Should be self-motivated and able to thrive in an environment with ad-hoc requests and shifts in direction. Excellent project management and interpersonal skills Experience in process governance, with an understanding of processes that align with policies, regulatory frameworks, and/or operational standards Supporting the operational risk exam management processes

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, MSc) or certifications are advantageous Knowledge of Platforms – Outreach, ONE.FORCE, BCMA, Tableau, MS office would be preferred
