Job Description: Analyst - Conversions

Summary

 

The Conversions Analyst oversees the technical migration of data from your legacy systems into Epic using Bridges interfaces. The legacy data conversion analyst determines mechanisms to migrate the in-scope data into Epic, including tracking statuses and critical risks that need resolution. Serves as the main coordinator for non-Epic technical resources for legacy data conversion projects, such as third-party vendor representatives, data extract and formatting developers, and third-party consultants and service providers contracted to perform specialized tasks for legacy data conversions. The legacy data conversion analyst will coordinate with application teams and operational stakeholders to validate data migrated to Epic in preparation for production data loads.  Acts as subject matter resource for EHR application integration with other clinical applications and information systems, as necessary.

 

Professional Responsibilities: 

Maintaining the scope, schedule, and quality of the legacy data conversion project. Establishing a relationship and process between your third-party administrators, legacy data extraction and formatting developers, and legacy data conversion analysts. Setting clear expectations for legacy data conversion analysts, including defining the team’s processes and outlining key tasks and success factors throughout each phase of the project. Working closely with your project director and application managers to coordinate cross-team dependences and all-team project activities and manage escalations. Coordinating legacy data conversion requirements and progress with operational stakeholders, application teams, and third-party system administrators. Advising and providing guidance on project issues, sharing lessons learned, and applying critical thinking to smelling smoke to identify risks and create mitigation plans. Accountable for following processes, completing interim milestones, and meeting deadlines. Guiding legacy data conversion scope, data mapping, formatting, and data validation for high-quality data migration into Epic. Working with Epic (Wisconsin) representatives, operational stakeholders, application teams, legacy data extraction and formatting developers, and third-party system administrators to ensure migrated data meets your organization’s business requirements. Managing escalations and facilitating final decisions for legacy data conversion (such as determining the feasibility of technical data conversion within project timelines). Reviewing the status of legacy data conversion from each source system and open issues on an ongoing basis with project leadership. Facilitate weekly meetings with team members to discuss the status of deliverables, shared issues, end-user concerns, budget, and upcoming milestones. Interpreting and assessing issue impact and setting the priority of issue resolution within the team.

 

 

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

Ability to oversee many concurrent legacy data conversion work streams (often tens or hundreds of unique data type and source system pairs). Ability to understand business requirements and their impact on technical solutions. Ability to work in a complex environment to manage multiple concurrent communication needs, including executive-level communication. Skill at tracking tasks, defining next steps, identifying owners, and holding people accountable. Ability to coordinate activities and facilitate meetings involving multiple stakeholders, including your project teams, third-party vendors, operational stakeholders, data extraction and formatting developers, and end users, for the purpose of designing, configuring, and validating legacy data conversions. Familiarity with HL7 and other message standards, ETL processes, and your interface engine is valuable.

 

Education and Experience:

Degree in a technical discipline. Experience with SQL programming, queries, data extracts, data conversions. Previous experience with healthcare-related data migrations, preferred.
