Summary:

We are seeking a regular full time Analyst 1 in our Jacksonville, FL office.  The regular schedule for the position is Monday-Friday, from 8am-4:30pm. This position involves the analysis of samples for drugs and other potentially toxic compounds in biological specimens. The individual in this position is responsible for specimen preparation, test performance and reporting of test results. The following functions may vary by specific needs of individual laboratory sections and defined by the supervisor. 

 *An initial training period of three weeks at our Horsham, PA headquarters is required – accommodations are paid by the company. *

 Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, Chemical, Physical, or Biological ScienceDegree must be in a chemical, physical, biological science, or forensic science from an accredited university.Minimum of 22 semester credit hours in college-level chemistry coursework including coursework and labs:General Chemistry I & II (8 credits) Organic Chemistry I & II (8 credits) Two, 3-semester hr. courses from the following possibilities: Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Informatics, Instrumental Analysis, Mass Spectrometry, Quantitative Analysis, Separation Science, Spectroscopic Analysis, Biochemistry, Drug Metabolism, Forensic Toxicology, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology, Physiology, Toxicology; Physical Chemistry I & II along with any chemistry course labeled as CHEM or CHE on the transcript.Bachelor's degree with 1-2 years of lab experience or Masters degree with 0-1 year of lab experience.

 

Major Duties & Responsibilities 

Performs all duties of a Lab Support Specialist proficiently.Performs analytical procedures within the department as defined by the supervisor.Independently calculates results as applicable and as defined by supervisor. Supports others in the training of newer staff. i.e. be available to answer basic instrument/extraction procedure questions.Non-routine instrument troubleshooting and/or monthly maintenance as defined by the supervisor.Understanding of prioritization of testing. i.e. pulling correct samples for extraction, instrument setup, calculation, etc.Maintains regular and reliable attendance.Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands & Working ConditionsAbility to hear.Vision (with correction) including color, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Standing, reaching with hands and arms, and using hands and fingers to manipulate instrument or equipment controls, computer keyboard, office equipment, objects or tools.Movement from one work location to another.Sitting and standing, sometimes for extended periods of time.Lifting objects up to 20 lbs.Ability to travel as needed for court testimony and/or training.Exposure to intermittent or constant sounds generated by equipment.Exposure to fumes, noxious odors and dust.Handling of biological material and blood-borne pathogens.Handling of toxic or caustic chemicals.Proximity to moving parts.
