Are you a data-driven problem solver with a passion for making an impact? We’re seeking a Compensation Analyst II to join our dynamic Compensation team in Total Rewards. In this role, you will leverage your analytical skills to provide critical support in compensation decision-making, consulting with business and HR leaders across a fast-paced and diverse organization. As a Compensation Analyst II, you’ll have the opportunity to manage and execute key compensation processes, including Merit, Bonus, Stock Administration, Short-Term Incentive Administration, and support for organizational changes. Working with supervision, you’ll analyze and interpret complex data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights that guide pay decisions and reward strategies. You will partner with other HR functions to champion the culture, attract the most innovative people, and develop approaches to grow and keep them at CarMax.    

What you will do – Essential Responsibilities

Conduct market pricing and salary surveys to ensure our compensation packages are competitive within industry standards. Evaluate external compensation data, analyze internal pay structures, and make recommendations to stakeholders. Ensure the accuracy of compensation data across various HR systems. Perform job evaluations, salary analyses, and ad-hoc reporting as needed, translating findings into actionable insights. Assist, execute and improve core processes like annual merit, bonus, and stock award administration and short-term incentive administration. Ensure all compensation practices comply with applicable laws, company policies, and audit requirements. Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for compensation processes, procedures, and practices. Lead compensation processes for a major business unit, inclusive of gathering requirements, building solutions, and running a compensation process end-to-end. Partner with key stakeholders and other Compensation Analysts to drive completion of compensation projects and identify opportunities to streamline compensation processes, and improve data accuracy.   Partner with HRIS and other technology teams to support thoughtful configuration and execution of compensation programs. Perform compensation data analysis and reporting for business and HR stakeholders leveraging the HRIS system and MS Excel. Complete other related duties, analysis and projects as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

Proven communication skills to advise and counsel effectively (written and verbal) with all levels of Associates.  Ability to reason and communicate compensation guidelines and detailed compensation information to all levels of Associates in a professional manner.Demonstrated analysis skills required to collect, interpret, and analyze data with strong attention to detail.Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and other advanced functions.Familiarity with HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, SAP) and experience.Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to independently research compensation questions, pay issues, or process gaps.Project management skills to establish schedules and timelines to achieve company expectations.Customer service skills to convey a professional and positive image to all levels of Associates. 

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certification (e.g., CCP, SHRM-CP) is a plus.At least two years of work experience in a corporate setting, with experience in either Compensation, or another analytical functionPrior experience with Workday or HRIS systemIntermediate MS Excel skillsIntermediate MS PowerPoint skills
