Performs analysis of data regarding the pipeline safety management system to measure pipeline safety effectiveness and assists in developing action plans to enhance pipeline safety effectiveness in support of Virginia Natural Gas (VNG’s) Pipeline Safety Management System (PSMS) Program. Responsible for identifying and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) for measuring pipeline safety effectiveness and making data driven recommendations as needed to achieve positive results and to reduce or eliminate risks. Responsible for developing processes, process flow diagrams, and procedures in support of VNG’s PSMS Program. Responsible for leading pipeline safety related event learnings and drafting reports and materials to share learnings across Southern Company Gas.
Functional Expertise:
Extracts data from various sources including Work Management and Field Workforce systems, GIS, compliance tracking database, cathodic protection data base, other reports and similar sources, working closely with the Southern Company Gas EDGE team – Enterprise Decision Support and Data Governance Identifies new sources for data extraction to perform analysis on process key performance indicators (KPIs). Recognizes where gaps in data and processes exists and monitors the mitigation actions implemented to close the gaps. Creates visual presentations, reports, and dashboards (tables, charts, graphs, etc.) in Microsoft Power BI, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. Demonstrates working knowledge of the PSMS standard – American Petroleum Institute Recommended Practice (API RP) 1173.Business Acumen:
Using advanced data analysis skills, conducts research and analyzes data to identify risks to the pipeline system and trends when analyzing process KPIs. Creates and maintains VNG’s PSMS dashboards comprised of KPIs in Microsoft Power BI and works with the EDGE team to draft user stories for data the EDGE team will use to create enterprise dashboards. Using advanced data analysis skills, assists with the building of plans for the mitigation of risks and threats to the pipeline’s operation. Tracks and reports effectiveness of mitigation actions and assists in developing additional corrective actions as needed. Develops and tracks essential PSMS documents and records as required. Monitor and report trends from VNG’s Organization Learning and Corrective Action/ Preventative Action Programs (OLR & CAPA). Develop and present complex pipeline safety material to various audiences throughout VNG.Engagement:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop processes, process flow diagrams, and procedures to meet both technical and non-technical requirements. BS degree in a technical and/or analytical fieldPreferred:

5+ years experience with the following: Technical and analytics experience. Performing analysis across multiple business units and subject areas. 5+ years experience involving the energy services or utility industry. 4+ years experience with Safety Management Systems. 4+ years experience involving risk management and root cause analysis. 4+ years experience with American Petroleum Institute Recommended Practice 1173 (API RP 1173), PHMSA regulation knowledge, and experience including 49 CFR Parts 191-199. 2+ years experience in the field involving energy services or utility industry. Working knowledge of analytical techniques including stochastic, data aggregation and correlation methodologies.Applicant may possess a combination of equivalent education and work experience.
