Job Description
The Chemistry Analyst will work in the pet food lab conducting analysis on raw materials and finished products. The primary responsibilities include running chromatography and liquid chromatography tests to determine the shelf life, nutritional value, and stability of pet food products. Analysts will use specialized analytical instruments to support nutritional testing, pre-mix, pre-blends, mixer studies, raw ingredients, developmental products, and finished product analysis.
ResponsibilitiesProvide technical knowledge and expertise in the use and application of specialized analytical instrumentation.Conduct chromatography and liquid chromatography testing on products to determine shelf life, nutritional value, and stability.Support nutritional testing, pre-mix, pre-blends, mixer studies, raw ingredients, developmental products, and finished product analysis.Use instruments including ICP, ICP MS, Leco Protein Analyzers, Fat Extractors, Auto Titrators, TGA, HPLC, GC, and perform Wet Chemistry tests.Plan, design, and conduct laboratory experiments to test the chemical specifications of various substances, materials, and products.Estimate resources and time required to conduct experiments and monitor performance to ensure targets are met.Collect, prepare, and test samples, recording observations accurately.Prepare detailed reports with recommendations, applications, and conclusions.Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on laboratory equipment to ensure it is in good working order.Essential SkillsExperience with HPLC, GC, ICP.Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, natural sciences, food sciences, or pharmaceuticals with an emphasis in Analytical Chemistry.Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures and tools.Ability to perform routine tasks under close supervision or defined procedures.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with LCMSMS, ICP-OES, GC-FID is highly desirable.Analytical chemistry experience is preferred.Candidates with biology backgrounds are not suitable for this role.Work Environment
This position is based in a laboratory setting. The shift for this role is Tuesday to Saturday from 8am to 4:30pm.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00
