Responsibilities:Determines the physical and chemical properties of compounds using quantitative and qualitative analyses in physical, organic, or inorganic chemistry. Performs a variety of chemical tests and is knowledgeable with instrumental techniques. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under supervision. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.Responsible for the testing of raw materials, outgoing finished products and most importantly the products sent back that need to be examined and tested to see what went wrong (Failure Analysis). Instrumentation in this lab (Analytical Lab) Includes: FTIR, GCP, ICP, GC-FID, Microscopes and other testing equipment that will either test the paint or coating or help them get a better look at the application of the paint or coating.Once they have run the tests needed, they will be expected to be able to explain their findings and potentially make a judgement call based off the data. They HAVE TO BE ABLE TO EXPLAIN WHAT THEY DID AND WHY THEY DID IT.The analytical team is basically the forensics team or investigative team. When the customer has an issue with the product this team is responsible for finding out why it failed (failure analysis). This chemist will need to be able to root cause what the issue is through a series of chemical and physical tests. They need to be very curious and ask a lot of questions. They will then record their findings in report fashion and give their results to the director Michele who will go over it with them. Very independent work, need somone with high initiative and critical thinking skills, very detail oriented as well. No travel requiredMonday - Friday 7:30 - 4:30

Must Have:Bachelors in Biochemistry, Chemistry and least favorably Biology Critical Thinking Skills (This is not just a senseless testing job, they will be expected to root cause products so they are going to be problem solving all day.They need to be able to explain how to properly set up and perform an experiment (Scientific Method etc.)Strong lab skills (they need to know there way around a lab an how to report data.)Nice to have:Lab experience in the field 1-2 yearsResearch or internship experience with Paints and or Coatings in a root cause/failure analysis capacity. Disqualifers: No Bachelors DegreeEducation: BS

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
