Analytics and Data Engineer – Remote

This position will design, develop, implement, test, deploy, monitor, and maintain the delivery of data and analytics pipelines to support actuarial reporting and analytics. Additionally, this position will be involved in building actuarial enrichment data processes, productionalizing data science algorithms and performing application POCs to support an actuarial data mart used to drive client service engagements.

Primary Responsibilities:

Accountable for data engineering lifecycle including research, proof of concepts, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance Build automated, scalable, flexible, secure, and cross domain data and analytic pipelines with supporting monitors, listeners, notifications, and process state reporting Support monthly and quarterly production activities Maintain high quality documentation of data definitions, transformations, and processes to ensure data governance and security Identifies solutions to non-standard requests and problems Work with other departments to develop pipelines to move data in and out of our domain Assist with developing and automating data processors

Required Qualifications:

4+ years of experience software engineering using SPARK with Python and SQL 4+ years of experience data engineering including ETL and pipeline building 2+ years of experience with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP), including Databricks, Snowflake, and/or Microsoft Fabric 1+ years of experience working with health care data Experience using data orchestration tools such as ADF, Airflow, DBT, etc. Experience with CICD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub, Maven etc.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Proven knowledge of health care concepts –claims, eligibility, benefits, pricing, underwriting, stop loss reinsurance, reserves etc.  Experience building business intelligence in Power BI or Tableau Experience leading a team Experience building engineering processes with actuaries and/or data scientists

Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $173,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
