Purpose

The Analytics Manager is a key position responsible for leading and overseeing the strategic management of data, performance metrics, and process improvement initiatives within UEM, ensuring the efficient use of data to drive operational excellence, sustainability, and innovation. The Analytics Manager will oversee energy analytics and optimization efforts, providing strategic insights into energy usage trends and sustainability initiatives. The position will manage a team of analysts and technical staff, promoting collaboration, innovation, and alignment with UEM’s goals.

This position will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that analytics, process improvements, and energy optimization efforts align with institutional goals, while maintaining compliance with relevant regulations and policies.

Job DescriptionStrategic Data Stewardship: Oversee the collection, management, and analysis of data across UEM systems, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and security. Establish and enforce data governance policies, promoting the responsible use of data in decision-making.Performance Metrics and Reporting: Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI and Tableau offering real-time visibility into operational performance. Analyze trends and patterns in data to inform strategic planning and operational enhancements.Process Improvement: Evaluate existing business and technical processes to identify inefficiencies and areas for optimization. Lead cross-functional teams to design and implement streamlined processes that enhance service delivery and operational efficiency. Change Management and Innovation: Lead change management initiatives to ensure smooth implementation of new processes, tools, and systems. Collaborate with UEM leadership and stakeholders to foster a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement. Energy Analytics and Optimization: Oversee the development of analytical models and tools to support energy management, resource allocation, and sustainability initiatives. Provide strategic insights into energy usage trends, system performance, and cost-saving opportunities.Team Leadership and Development: Recruit and manage a team of analysts and technical staff focused on data and process improvement. Promote a collaborative and innovative culture within the analytics and technical programs teams. Collaboration with Stakeholders: Partner with internal and external stakeholders, including Facilities Services, Campus Operations, and University leadership, to align analytics and process improvement efforts with institutional goals. Serve as a subject matter expert on data stewardship, process improvement, and energy analytics for UEM projects and initiatives.Regulatory and Compliance Monitoring: Ensure that data management practices and process improvements comply with relevant regulations, standards, and institutional policies. Maintain detailed documentation of analytics and process improvement initiatives for transparency and compliance audits.Perform other related functions as assigned. Attend staff meetings, safety training or meetings. Adheres to Utilities and University policies and procedures.

Required QualificationsBachelors degree in Engineering, Data Analytics, Business Administration, Information Systems, or Operations Research.Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a technical field, including energy management, utility (water, electric, other), engineering, power plant or similar operations.At least 5 years in a managerial capacity, with a proven track record of leading critical projects and teams.Demonstrated proficiency in data analysis, performance metrics, and business process improvement, including advanced skills in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau) and process mapping software.Ability to apply Lean-Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, and other process improvement methodologies to drive operational excellence.Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and team-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.Proficiency in program and project management principles and tools, including agile methodologies.Ability to implement effective change management strategies, promote innovation, and motivate and influence diverse teams.   

Preferred QualificationsAdvanced degree (master's or higher) in Engineering, Data Analytics, Business Administration, Information Systems, or Operations Research.Understanding of business drivers, industry trends, and the forces impacting utility and energy management.Ability to align technical operations with organizational goals and make strategic decisions that support long-term objectives.Proven success in driving organizational change, fostering employee involvement, and building a culture of continuous improvement.Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification, Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Certified Analytics Professional (CAP), Certified Professional in Management (CPM), Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP).

Driving Required

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.

$115,000
